In regards to DoP I remember a couple years back following his posts on a local NC Yahoo! Group and got the impression he is somewhat of an underdog with the Us versus Them thing going on. Some people don't take it well when you beat them on a repitive basis. Maybe he is one of thoes guys you either love or hate.

Anyways with regard to banning I appreciate all the good feedback that has been posted here. I take the topic very seriously, it's a big deal. I think from what I have read if a TO thinks they have a potential problem on their hands the ideal approach is to first contact the person and discuss any allegations with them so that they are aware of the situation and give them a chance to tell their side of the story. That is only fair. Layout the rules for them & explain what you expect as proper conduct in your event. If problems then occur you can issue a warning(s) then DQ if you see fit. I don't think it's fair for a person or group to make allegations toward an individual and not let them know about it, so full disclosure. I have never banned anyone and much like yakface here I would rather try to work with a problem person to resolve issues in such a manner that hopefully everyone can have a good time as much as possible. If the problem(s) surface and continue to persist then you would have to be prepared to take action. Any actions taken should occur during the course of a game when an actual infraction occurs.

Meh, maybe you could just post up some rulings on some of the rules he has problems with before any event he is in, just don't always go against what he thinks it should be, just go by the polls, and if he argues about it, then he is arguing something he shouldn't. Just make it crystal clear with the rulings!

If someone is enough of a tool, a DQ might have the same effect as telling them they are banned.

100% perfect way to handle it. You couldn't handle it any better. Barring G.W. writing clear concise rules and faq's everyone can understand. Oh God.....hurts.....to....laugh.

Also a thread on an online forum is definitely not the best way to gain support against a banning. Talking with the owner/organizer and resolving the original dispute is.

Thread winning post here.

Just a reminder that whilst Dakka, as a wargaming site is, clearly ,the best way to solve any ongoing personal disputes and/or grudges you might have with another person, there really is no replacement for actual face to face communication, not least as it doesn't bore everyone else to death with variants of the same old arguments over and over again.

We love our superheroes because they refuse to give up on us. We can analyze them out of existence, kill them, ban them, mock them, and still they return, patiently reminding us of who we are and what we wish we could be.
