Right...we seem to have a general consensus...so I say (With the hopes that we don't jump into too far of a tangent without restarting a thread) that this is why they should cost 30 ish points in the next update...and be worth every point!

I'm actually going to throw my money in on the Ultramarines section of the table.

I know they aren't everyone's favorite, but I think they take the prize in pretty much any category except 'most interesting.'

Post heresy = Grey Knights (As they are a "best of the best" chapter made out of the best gene seeds the imperium has to offer)

Meh, I have always been an avid fan of the Imperial Fists, 'tis a shame none of you feel the same way.

Out of ultramarines and grey knights, I would side with ultramarines.

The Grey Knights are better trained, better equipped, have many more powerful psykers, and are higher in number. In addition, they have a seat at the inquisition, meaning that they have easier access to tools like Titans and Exterminatus.

Nakis wrote:Since everyone is loving on the Grey Knights, I had a question. Do they actually count as a Chapter? Do they ascribe to the Codex, or are they more akin to a Legion, who's membership is little due to the fact that so many die becoming one? Or are they simply an Inquisition tool who look like Space Marines enough to pass as one, roughly to the point where Grey Knights are the Inquisitions attempt to make Marine Inquisitors?

They're officially chapter 666.

Im with the others, where did you actually come up with that outcome? Id REALLY like to hear how the Ultras could take on the Grey Knights. I mean REALLY?

The Ultramarines would beat the Grey Knights by either not being at the fight, and thus not losing cause they can always come back for another go, see, or by being rescued by, say, Commissar Yarrick and the Blood Angels.

Well I guess an army of Batmans would be pretty awesome.

Heh.

You've gotta remember that the Ultramarines(and every Space Marine Chapter barring the Black Templars and Grey Knights really) are able to call upon their Successor Chapters. In some cases, the Successors would ignore them--but in others, they'd go to the depths of Hell itself for their progenitors.

Well we were talking about one on one fights...

But if the Knights had to purge the ultramarines...they could utilize every guardsman in the universe, all the sisters of battle, the templar...you might already be outnumbered and outmatched...by a lot. Plus the Grey Knights would get all the cool toys being flown in from Mars...

Mesopotamia. The Kingdom Where we Secretly Reign.

I like the Iron Hands, because they're the most grimdark. The Purging of Contqual is my favorite bit of 40k fluff ever.

I think that the GKs would have a lot more than just Ultramarine Successors on their back if word got out that they were purging an entire chapter of Loyalist Marines. The Astartes don't take a lot of guff from the Inquisition. The Space Wolves would be all over that in a hot minute!

Imperial Fists on "OMG they're trying to invade our planet" mode.

No-one's going to shift the Imperial Fists out of a tight spot in a hurry are they? They're the best defenders in the universe.

Dark Angels on "OMG there's some Fallen in their army" mode.

No-one will stop the fury of the Unsure!

Crimson Fist on "OMG they killed Kenny . . . I mean Rynn's World" mode

The fury of the Crimson Fists would literally punch through anything really.

So in summary, we have The Emperor as Goal Keeper and Captain. Imperial Fists in Defense, Dark Angels hiding in the wings (with fury!), and Crimson Fists in Attack.

No if my team doesn't win the World Cup, I don't know who will =D

Oshova - kinda lost the point of the post while watching a program on the best players in the world atm . . .

You can tell the Ultramarines are the greatest becasue of all the haters they have.

60% of all space marines are descended from Ultramarines!

Exactly. The Chapters that don't follow the Codex Astartes to the letter like the Ultramarines do are the exception.

Lexicanum's wrong, bub.

The "Illustrated Guide to the Inquisition" states that the Deathwatch are a Chapter in name only due to the fact that Deathwatch members are drawn up as needed and returned to their Chapter afterwards.

The organization exists, but due to the fact that it's almost always barely numbering over a hundred members--not a Chapter.

It's not even that, it's the fact that it's a collation of multiple sources. They make no distinction between stuff that's no longer considered by GW to be canon and stuff that is in the current canon.

Yes but there's still errors. It's just a wiki.
