Wow! These are amazing winterdyne! Top notch work! One question about the vehicle weathering, for the silver paint scratches, was that drybrushed metallic or some other technique?

That is incredibly impressive! Personally I don't like the little flag on top, but that's a great looking, dynamic model!

Enlist as a virtual Ultramarine! Click here for my Chaos Gate (PC) thread.

"As I recall, your face was tortured. Imagine that - the Master of the Wolves, his ferocity twisted into grief. And yet you still carried out your duty. You always did what was asked of you. So loyal. So tenacious. Truly you were the attack dog of the Emperor. You took no pleasure in what you did. I knew that then, and I know it now. But all things change, my brother. I'm not the same as I was, and you're... well, let us not mention where you are now."

Great looking models. The weathering and tones are superb.
I like even more that they are Ultramarines because it forces the "cool kids" to have to bite their tongues with the lame Ultramarine hate that is all the rage...

The weathering is done in 2 stages - first any 'painted' details, like the U's and checks get a few streaks of the base colour.
Then boltgun metal is sponged onto the leading edges, and painted in streaks back.
Finally a few drybrushes with chaos black for scorching.

I'm envious of your client.
Keep it up, people will want your business for a long time to come. God, you're good.
I don't even want to imagine the price of this commission.

Cheers. I have a pricing guide on my blog ( http://winterdyne.blogspot.com). The speeder storm is basically a small vehicle plus a scout squad, so I charge a starting rate of about £125. This includes bits / accesories etc., and the passengers. Without passengers (just the driver and gunner) it'd be a lot cheaper. There was a small additional fee for the modifications to make the scouts removable. All the Ultras so far have all gone to the same client, and yeah, he's spent a bit. :-) I don't think there's another UM army kicking around that's got the same feel though.
Edit: And I had to paint the sodding thing twice! :-)

I wish I could afford that much. It's really great what you do with the Ultras, they look really brutal (especially the assault squad), not something you normally see with the boys in blue.
