Can minis that are "dead" or converted to look like being shot count?
Yes. They are painted and based...
No. They are dead and are only good for terrain or dynamic basing....

Are people in this thread being actually serious or sarcastic, it doesn't translate well in the written word.

Those models are totally fine, just play like they were standing up. People keep throwing around this WYSIWYG rule, there is no such rule*.

If anyone is actually complaining about the number of rippers or scarabs on a base, or the use of cool models then they need to take a step back and examine their life, seriously.

Aramoro

*There is a WYSIWYG rule in the Character section which says the options and wargear on a Character must be modelled. These are all troops and have no optional wargear anyway so are not covered by this rule.

Violence isn't the answer, I just like getting it wrong on purpose.

As long as it takes them to get the models or if it looks cool I wouldn't worry about it at all.

But I don't consider yours to be a "counts as". It's just a cool, alternative model.

Am I correct in assuming your models are this:

Yes, and as long as they want because it's a game. There's nothing morally superior about using "real" GW models, painted models, models that are the "same race," or even cardboard chips. It's all fake, none of it is real.

all i'm saying is these things cost money. if you can't buy a lot, stick with smaller games.
I don't mean to sound rude, I just don't like the attitude I've seen from some people that "If you can't afford the same level of financial commitment to the hobby that I do you should play something else."

I don't think he quite meant it like that, I think he meant to stick small 40K games - point wise like kill-team and others.

Kinda, I basically just meant don't try to use proxies to make an army you don't have. I'm not saying never use proxies, they're fine if you want to test something or plan on buying something, just don't use units that aren't what you are saying they are permanently.

Or what? The fantasy fairy will come slay you in the night? Nothing bad happens when people proxy. Sometimes spending the extra money is a bad thing, and it's the same game regardless of what you use to play. You're not "better" or "worse" for using any kind of playing pieces. Just stick to playing people who like to play how you do and cut the judgmental crap. It makes all of us look bad and you a lot worse.

Worship me.
