SUCCESS! I may have found a donor for my termi leg needs! A good friend has informed me that he just might have an extra set.

Hope it okay to post this here

Drawn late when unable to sleep I sketched a comparison of a 6' human and an 8' tall SM.

I made the following assumptions:
Greater upper body due to the organ mods in the marinification process.
The head size is unchanged.

The proportions are (imho) pretty accurate, however given the extra body mass the SM's legs could have been given more girth, though I have kept the length of the legs proportionally the same as that of the human.
This confirms to me that the thighs should be wider apart, which would entail much broader hips. It seems to me that this is necessary to allow for the power armour on the legs.
Possibly it explains why SM;s are always depicted with legs splayed? would be interested to hear other opinions on this please.

I hope this will be of interest to those considering True Scale conversions. The sketch was done for my own benefit to help visualise the amount of bulking out that is required. However I thought it may be of use to others too.
Hope you don't mind me posting it here and will remove if you wish

If you ask me, I'm ok with it.

Personally, I use Loomi's proportions, since that's what you actually get with the popular TS techniques.

I'm going through a bunch of true scale conversions, and I realized that I have a bunch of terminator heads sticking around, and it's a shame seeing them go unloved, because they really are cool looking heads.

I'm wondering if anyone's ever made a truescale terminator, and if so, do they have any tips?

In this threads you have pre-heresy TS termis

That is very usefull Dark

What you need to do for the accepted (or maybe herioc?) is enlarge by 133.33% for a true scale marine.

Then distort for the SM enhancements.

It also seems to endorse what I was getting at with hip widening for the leg armour to fit.

Thanks jamie7784, those are very inspirational. I think with any other leftover termi heads I will just attach them to the belt of any terminator guys I see with no-helmet heads.

I haven't found a tutorial, but I'd use this Master of the Forge's pic as a guide. As I see it, you need to raise the torso, make it broader with some plasticard and finally bulk it up with GS

Lamenter's stuff rocks!

And it really does seem that if you want TS Terminators, you've got some serious sculpting to do!

Indeed, but at least one plays Deathwing or Loganwing, that won't be such an issue, since one will have more Power Armours than Terminator Armours xD

Still, to me it looks the easiest way to make a TS Terminator (saving this guy's sculpting mastery) instead of making them from scratch.

On a side note, I GOT SOME PLASTIC TERMI LEGS!! So thankfully I will be able to get started on this project ASAP.

Of course you must post pics!

And have more faith on yourself.

On second thought, I'll drop the idea of a true scale termi. I just can't sculpt too well. Maybe sometime in the future.

I managed to get a full compliment AoBR Marines nive and cheap. Hopefully will be able to have a practise on one of them soon.

Once I have figured out what I'm doing I can then start decontstructing my SW's to rebuild them

I have other more urgent projects (like my varangian vambraces) that I need to do, but my goal is to eventually start 1000 points of TS SW

Perhaps a SM will start to look different on the gamin tables around the world

Could do, Tony
Popped up some sketches to try and put out some feelers before commiting to plastic and GS. a blog that no one responds to
Cue violins

My ideas have shifted a bit since then so may as welll post here on or make a new blog when I get something more concrete.

Good grief Dark you gave me a shock. At first glance for a split second I thought you said, "I have other more urgent projects (like my vaginan embraces)"

Guess I am getting tired and need to get some sleep!

If you do a TS blog I shall follow it.

And you don't need sleep, you need "therapy" xDDD

Thanks Dark
Need of sleep and need of therapy aren't necessarily mutually exclusive!

I'm almost done painting my second one, and I have to say, jump packs are a pain to paint. But not as bad as painting weapons. If it's not a power weapon, it's just not fun to paint...

And that's only number 2 of 20+

At least they're fun to convert... even made a custom helmet for one.

My AoBR set arrived yesterday
These Marines probably ain't the easiest to convert I'm thinking but they are cheap enough to chop without reservation.

I think I may keep my current blog for drawings and ideas in case anyone is remotely interested in my design process.

Will pop some pics of WIP if and when I start the actual modelling.

TBH I was thinking of having some Femarines, but not so sure, partly because there is enough to keep me occupied at the moment without having to finalise the fluff and then argue the toss about wether or not they are legit. Please note that isn't an open invite to start that discussion again

What is the scale height of a TS marine is please?
apologies my brain ain't working and forgot what scale GW minis are

I figured it like this:

An average human male (IG) is 1.650m tall = 31mm in miniature

A marine is in the region of 8ft ish = 2.438m ish, therefor a marine should be 45.8mm tall in miniature. So any where between 42-46mm is good IMO.

Thanks Hit
Much appreciated

Going to draw a TS marine mini actaul size to help me get the proportions I want more easily and consistantly (in theory)

An average human is 165cm tall on the IG? I always considered them to be around 180cm tall (well, since that's normal here to me, I'm 180cm tall and I don't feel tall at all)

Just went by average hights i found on Wiki.

It sounds about right, though when scaling I always took 1.8m as an aveage as it seemed better for me to work with.

I may allow a couple of mill to allow for armour and take the SM height from the upper range given.

My truescalies are around 40~42mm tall, although the pose sometimes changes that (for example, the one I'm working on converting now is only about 35mm tall because of his pose).
