AWESOME stuff there too.

Then, go look up SYNAPSE (user name) on Warseer.

AWESOME stuff there as well!

I will very shortly be unveiling my TS Alpha Legion force, which will be made up of Synapse, Lamenter and my own TS work!

The two methods I know of are as follows:
1. Basically use terminator kits. Remove all terminator looking bits (Cables, rivets) fill in any gaps with greenstuff. Remove the top part of the armour and use a normal marine head and back pack instead, greenstuff when necessary. This is by far more difficult and expensive but tends to produce more realistic results.
2. Use normal marines and add sheets of plasicard on the bottom of the feet, the middle of the shin, the groin joints and the bottom and middle of the torso. Much easier (but still hard, LOTS of cutting involved) also cheaper and will mount on regular bases.

(I have only experimented, but not being a great greenstuffer and a cheapskate I much prefer the second method.)

And heaven forbid if the Marine would also happen to have an intimidating looking, vertical scar. Then you're surly boned. Those guys are the worst. Not a chance I'd say.

For me, leaving the cables on works well, as I'm aiming for a True Scale Pre-Heresy army, and this helps 'make the look', so to speak...

One of the things I soon realised that a lot of the SW specific decoration got damaged that way on the few I have chopped.

The plan now is to try and get SM figures cheap, carve 'em up, and stick 'em together again. Termies will be just used to make TS Termies. Being on a budget it is the only realistic option. As my SW's will probably be to my own design, extra wolfie bits are surplus to demands anyway.

I blame you guys for putting daft ideas in my head!
Life would have been so much easier if I had never heard the expression True Scale Marines!

I was considering your method for a while, but I decided that I prefered the bulk that terminator legs give.

I wouldn't mind trying it out with some reg SM legs but I feel like they would end up looking too lanky. Termi legs would skip over the bulking up step.

Not sure Tony tbh
the SM legs always look a tad chunky anyway. Though you maybe right.

The other think I may have missed are the arms.
To me the shoulderpads are oversized. IMHO the regular SM ones would be fine.
Guess I won't really know for sure till I get one made. Then I will be able to guage what works best.

Personally, I wanted my truescale marine to have comparable bulk to this picture:

Im just waiting for the first true scale white scars army. Now i like the thought of scratch building a true scale Rhino, they say it would be Land Raider size, i have never worked out how you ot 10 marines plus 2 crew in a rhino anyway unless they played sardines and had a few riding shotgun.

Hi Ollie
my theory is that the transports are TARDIS like.
Like wise have thought about making my own but for somereason not to true scale! Thanks for the reminder and adding yet another pile of work to the "intray"

Actually see the point now Fafnir. Am still probably going to go GS route myself.

For the cool factor, that definitely has it,and although that is a very good image, I can't help but see problems with articulation. This is the only reason why I have problems with things like the shoulder pads.
They do look good though

Inside your mind, corrupting the pathways

My very simple expeditions into true scale involved making paper templates (to make sure that it fitted together and was more or less the right size and shape), before cutting the shapes out in plasticard and then sticking them together.

This gets you the basic tube structure of the arms, legs and torso without having to use expensive terminator bits. I was then planning on GS'ing the details (trim, etc) in place but I never got that far due to me lacking in any form of concentration or commitment to modeling projects that I start

I suppose the ultimate way would be to green suff your own legs and cast them up in resin. Maybe i will look into that.

I've come to the conclusion that I'll probably end up having to buy a box of assault termies. At the very least, the lightning claws should be usable once cut from the elbow down, and the front torso plate could be used instead of greenstuffing entirely over a normal powered armour plate.

The only problem being that I don't like the look of lightning claws XD

I think when I finally do get some leg sand do this I'm going to make a small combat squad if I like how the first one comes out. The Sarge will NOT have any lightning claws

SM legs don't seem to be too lanky using some green stuff on them, but anyway, it's only my opinion

Well once i get a decent professional mould maker and caster, i will be selling kits, but until then, take a look at my thread.

http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/306818.page

Also, if you are going to do true scale, you really have to think on how tall you want them to be in the end, as adding a couple of mil just isn't worth the bother imo, plus the standard SM pads just never look big enough.

Looking at the fallen angel, I may have to change my method a bit. The termie shoulders look great on him.

Of course, I'd only give the ground-pounders termie shoulders. They won't fit on the jumpers (and I plan on using a lot of jumpers).
