Unbelievable.
So your problem is solved. Go play someplace else and let the owner know that you will not be buying anything from his store and will be taking your business on-line.

After barely 3 games, I've already been told to:
- Quit the game.
- Give up my models.
- Forget I even thought about starting this game.
- Leave the store.
- Never come back.
Now here's some fun to be had by all; the person telling me this happens to work at this store. I know the store owner better than he does. As an added bonus, one of these guys is a Pressganger (a PP representative) who is doing the exact opposite of what he is supposed to do.
So what should I go about doing? This venue is the only good one in my area; I still go there to play 40k. But something tells me that I still want to play Warmachine too, even with the display left by these clowns.
Ive had similar issues at my Flgs with the same game now I'm off selling my few my khador.

Their all massive jerks, I'm liking the idea of real blood effects atm. , I think you should go nerd rage on them. I don't understand how the impersonator is now becoming a PG though, that confuses me. :/

I just feel like i need to apologize for my fellow warmachine players. there are scumballs playing any game and this guy is obviously one but the game isnt big enough to turn away willing players as long as your have a good attitude.
PM me sometime if you want to set up a friendly game on vassal.

Isn't it great when the System works?
There's nothing to be done past this point, anyway. Any further attempts to set the record straight will only aggravate the problem and will probably simply be filed under attempts at character assassination. Bad guys win, good guys lose, that's the way it's always going to be.
Now that he's an actual press ganger and on the books, you can now complain directly to PP about one of their official press gangers. Enough complaints and you can get him officially revoked.
Remember, the scumbag cheated to get in, but now that's he's registered, he can't hide behind the store owner since the press ganger has to deal with PP itself. So, if the scumbag pulls any more shenanigans, once again complain directly to PP, and get others who have no doubt experienced the same treatment to complain to PP. Eventually, that idiot store owner will have to choose. Sure, the store owner can lie about him running demos and having stuff painted, but he can't lie about player experiences, especially if you find other people who have been wronged by that TFG.
Also, it would be a good idea to name this store in these posts. Don't worry, this is not the same as naming an actual person, which is a no no, but when a business goes about making the hobby worse, it deserves bad word of mouth and deserves to lose business. Remember, businesses are public.
It sounds like the store owner isn't a proper businessman either. So you can be pretty sure that the store won't last for another year, especially with those attitudes and this economy.

Pressgangers do not get approved over the phone. Ever.
You have to have X amount of painted battleboxes, send in photographs, have them reviewed, and then have your application reviewed by the quartermaster.
Never in the history of PP has random BSing on one phone call gotten someone PG status.
You absolutely, positively, 100% cannot get approved as a PG without sending in photographic proof that you have several painted battleboxes, because that is one of the biggest parts of being a PG: giving demos with a painted battle box. Our local PG does it almost every week.
I'm sorry, but you are completely full of it.

I know the method of how people get PG status. What I didn't know was they had to paint it.
See, the now PG appeared on their site as an applicant. I know for a fact that his photos are of him with the boxes themselves, borrowed from his friends since he only owns the Khador box.

Uh...applicants don't "appear on the site". The process is done internally. Your story is just getting more and more fake.
The fact that you won't even name the store, and that so far everything you have said about becoming a PG has been wrong, just proves more and more that this is either some paranoid delusion or you are just willfully trolling about something you don't understand. I suggest you pack in your trolling and head home.

I'm sorry to hear that people out there are having bad experiences with Warmachine players and LGS's. My group is kind of the opposite, I had to set a "Rules, not tactics" house rule because my players can be too helpful of new players. Not all player communities are friendly, and not all gamestores are good.
On the other hand - if there is some trollin' going on here then that is really uncool because then this all boils down to petty slander... well... libel, anyway.

You're right, this is unbelievable. I mean, I actually don't believe it. The Press Ganger application process is a lot longer and more involved than a single second-hand phone call. This person is not a Press Ganger. I'll give you the benefit of the doubt and assume you aren't trolling, in which case you are still being lied to by this guy.

It took me weeks to become a press ganger, but in the end
the store owner made a phone call to pg dan (I think)
because they wanted to start running events at the store
and that got me my PG status today.
I also remember that he went into my forum account to
make sure I wasn't a troll .
I'm not trying to add credibility to nofase's account, but a
lot of people in the thread are jumping to conclusions on
the basis of a single witness's perspective (or their lack of
trust in his testimony). I still think if a pg is your problem,
you contact jen ikuta. If he becomes a pg as a result, then
you still contact jen ikuta.
I think I have the best worst solution of all, though. Become
the press ganger and show em' how it's done or support
someone else who is able or willing to do so. Posting this
on dakka doesn't help anyone, just as the focus and fury
post doesn't help anyone either.

Very few Focus & Fury posts help anyone.
The podcast guys are great folk, but that forum is out of hand.
The only times I've visited there is when people direct me to specific threads which
are already out of hand. I imagine it's the same when people visit Dakka Dakka from
other forums. The only times they might see the threads here are when the trolling
and flaming are on full-bore.

hey guys , first i will assure everyone that i am not one of these so called " problems ". I am just a new gamer to that store and wanted to give you the other side of the story.
the op got into warmachine a few months ago , begining with khador and from what i have herd ( i only started about 1 and a half months ago ) was welcomed. when he began he wanted to play 35 points as that is what the rest of the group plays but didnt have the models. So the models he wanted to use were lended to him from the pg that he now has issues with and he played a game. When he was playing the game he was muttering under his breath and calling his opponent harrasing names and all sorts of other things that i will not post here because he was loosing the game. When the game was over he got so angry that he actually spiked the warcaster that he had borrowed from the pg ( which was fully painted ). He than accused his opponent of cheating and stormed from the room.
Sense then he has switched armies but his attatude remains the same and every one of his opponents has been called a "cigarette" or "a-hole" or something to that extent. It has actually gotten to the point that no one wants to play him because it just isnt fun. Now i am new , and what he said about these people being very good players is true. I do not win many games , but these people have been nothing but nice to me , and after the game will even tell me how i should have countered there list.
I would be more than happy to address any questions other posters have , but i couldnt just sit back and watch as the gaming group i love was being slammed
Yeah, I was going to post that the OP himself could be the TFG, but decided to try and let the topic simply fade off the front page.
Although I honestly don't think he's trying to deliberately lie, but at the same time, one of my best friends is quite frankly a TFG, so I know how their minds can warp things in their weirdly deluded way.
My TFG of a friend quite literally takes the same stance as cygnar_ftw just talked about, thinking everyone else is at fault except himself.
In a game like Warmachine (although many games share this trait) that's pretty focused on powerful combos, and knowing the moves and abilities, someone like that can get surprised by what should be cool moves to use or be up against, and get angry that his army broke, or in his own self centered way think the opponent is cheating. This stops them from learning how to play.
However, if the OP is speaking truth and such a comment came out of nowhere, then things need to be looked into. Likewise, the person who was pretending to be a press ganger when he was not officially should not have done so.
Either way though, my comments still stand, proper complaints to right places are necessary, same for calling out the correct public entities responsible.
Gailbraithe wrote:I worked at Privateer Press. I know exactly what their corporate culture is like, and they are all about money, same as GW. The president of PP, Sherry Yeary, has no idea how to play the game and doesn't even know all the factions. She doesn't care about them. I heard her refer to the latest book release at the time, Pirates of the Broken Coast, as "our new catalog." They literally see their books as nothing more than $20 marketing gimmicks to advertise new models. And the game design philosophy boils down to "Do these new units make old units suck and thus require everyone to buy the new units? Yes? Print them up!"
In her very limited defense, I think anyone working in a 'passionate' industry like wargaming needs to be able to suppress the "Wow! This is cool!" part of their personality from the "We need to make products people want!" part.
Admittedly, I don't know the woman and she might not have a "This is cool!" side at all.
However, basically, someones got to make sure stuff gets done, product ships, and some care is spent on releases, and it's tricky. She may be a necessary counter to the writers and artists.
Working on someting you'll either love or hate. Hopefully to be revealed by November.
Play the games that make you happy.
Simply disgraceful. Just leave the store if you can, because clearly it doesn't deserve your money if the owner has no integrity.
By the way, if WARMACHINE players ever go all 'Page 5' on you, simply remind them that Page 5 itself explicitly states that Page 5 is not an excuse for being a jerkass.

People are like dice, a certain Frenchman said that. You throw yourself in the direction of your own choosing. People are free because they can do that. Everyone's circumstances are different, but no matter how small the choice, at the very least, you can throw yourself. It's not chance or fate. It's the choice you made.
And you can also call them on P5 if they use any of the non metal stuff.
'Cos real men play with metal and all that.
I stopped playing WM because of the local players. ALL of whom care more about racking up trophies than encouraging people to play "their" game.
All of whom were more interested in whippin' the nub than actually teaching the game. Games were over in 10-15 minutes and the new players were left with "WTF just happened? Hey! You said this box was a good one?"
No explanations, no suggestions. Nothing but backslapping and high-fiving each other.
When I started, there was none of this P5 crap - there was NO rulebook published yet. Just the starter rules and cards in the boxes/blisters. We had a guy who cared about the game - and also enough to get people into it.
He got posted away and the replacement brought in his own pack of sycophants.
I'm OVER 50 (and so far over everyone's BS, too).
Old enough to know better, young enough to not give a ****.
That is not dead which can eternal lie ...
... and yet, with strange aeons, even death may die.

If any of what cygnar_ftw says is true, the OP is deliberately lying. No amount of mental gymnastics would suffice to make one account of events jive with the other.
