Guys, you are late to the Avatar hating party. I was hating Avatar before it was ever released. Just on the basis of the trailer I pegged it as Pocahontas in Space, and I decided to hate it as a reaction to the vastly over-egged hype around the movie.

That said, I watched it and I enjoyed it. The SFX are brilliant, of course, it has some solid performances, especially from blue-skin space elf girl and Sigourney Weaver. It's not a waste of money, it's just not the rocket ride to the moon we were promised.

It's a solid three stars out of five on the Kilkrazy scale of movie criticism.

I'm writing a load of fiction. My latest story starts here... This is the index of all the stories...

We're not very big on official rules. Rules lead to people looking for loopholes. What's here is about it.

I really enjoyed Avatar. It was sex for my eyes. I literally orgasmed from my eyeballs.

A friend saw it and asked "Dude, are you crying?"
"No I jus.... yeah. I'm crying manly tears for that Marine commander."

Col. Quaritch was the best thing about that movie. Too bad he won't be there when humans conquer the planet in the sequel.

I saw it in 3D the first time it was released and now my GF wants to see it in 3D for the first time. I hope they dont charge full price for an old movie. :-(

This. I've seen plenty of gak movies, and plenty of average movies. And not complained. It was the advertising campaign that made me automatically sceptical of the movie. And my scepticism was correct.

Saw it on normal dvd on a mid line tv. Not that great a movie, really.

This. I insisted on never watching it until a couple weeks ago. It was as stupid as I thought it would be

Speaking of "never seeing certain movies", I have never, and will never, see Titanic. What is it about all James Cameron's "Epic" movies that turns me off so much? Terminator was the business. Why couldn't he just keep going like that?

You're not missing much with Titanic. The chick's rack wasn't that great, and about the only part that entertained me was when everyone started jumping off the ship and nailing the prop blades on their way down.

Other than that, biggest waste of time.

Ever.

Presumably, this is the Academy Awards edition?

I never saw it in the initial release, so maybe I'll try to catch it now.

30 minutes.
They put three scenes back in (out of around 11).

I'd rather have seen the shithole that Earth is supposed to be and Jake wailing on the guy in the bar (who slapped a woman) than the lengthened hanky-panky scene, tbh.

That's the other thing I don't like about avatar. The furries. It's like their new softcore-porno-bible.

so, around 9 months, IIRC after it hit theatres, they are basically going to play the DVD in theaters? I mean, it's the movie with some deleted scenes? sounds like DVD/ bluray to me. Can someone give a link to the source?

haha, very funny. I'm asking about some type of press release that actually says "Avatar is coming back to Theaters".

I don't watch too much TV, and the ads that get talked about on the net never seem to be on air in my neck of the woods.

The scenes AREN'T ON the dvd or blu-ray.

YO DAKKA DAKKA!

IMHO, Avatar is worth seeing in the cinema, in 3D. I don't have any great desire to watch it again, but it was thoroughly enjoyable the first time I saw it.

On that note, I haven't seen it again.

I know it's cool to be a hater, but I don't see why the same people have to keep talking the same crap in this thread. It wouldn't have even gotten past the first page yet if 2/3 of this wasn't...

I saw it with a bunch of girls I was in a club with the first time. I literally saw my chances fall each scene that guy was in.
