Dakka has (for 3 of the last 4 months):
- the most posts per day
- the most new users per day
- the highest rank (on average) on Alexa
- the most US users
Warseer has
- the most posts archived
- the most UK users
Librarium online has:
- the most search engine hits (heavy SEO) but the highest bounce rate
GW official site has:
- the most overall traffic
coolminiornot ranks fairly highly, as does BoLS (not including their forums), and second sphere has had a strong start, but by most metrics we are generally the largest wargaming community website now.
LO - Why oh why am i not suprised. lol. Heavy SEO.
No wonder they adsense the crap out of the site.
I use to be staff on LO - but the site began to turn into ads-online.
I arrived on Dakka, at first was very hostile drama going on left and right but it calmed down to a nice place to chill out and relax.
The other sites - i can give feth - nothing else like dakka.

I dunno, I've noticed that Dakka seems to attract a lot of lurkers. At any given time, I see about 5x as many guests online as registered users. Thats fine, but it would be nice if they would post something...

The high guest count is a bug in tracking search engine bots. At some points of the day it is accurate and it is still a very high number, but the real figure is usually around 1-2K.

Thanks for posting the article link Brother SRM. I thought that Miss Cassie was gracious and friendly enough for anyone to welcome her to a game. The interviewer did seem kind of excitable around her, but I'll give him credit, I would have been totally tongue tied and subject to stupidity, ha ha
I don't like drama, but Dakka Dakka has some very interesting questions raised by the community, and so I come by every day to see what the good folks here are talking about. I like the moderators, especially Frazzled and Ketara, who were forgiving when I acted like a butt head my first time here.
Be well all, and be blessed!

You'd be surprised. I actually posted this question on a few of the other sites I'm a member at and you would deffinitly be surprised I just want to keep this on topic. While a female gamer is a rare enough site (even though there has always been one where I've played) it isn't what this topic is about. Just steering us back on course

TMP is where I go to keep informed of the non-GW stuff and to get perspective from alot of older gamers.
I occasionally visit Adeptus Windy City and Black Sun Games to setup meetups and trades.
I check zombismith and Wargames Factory forums to see what they are up too.
As for Dakka, it's is a unique place with lots of drama, but an interesting ability to cut the flaming a micrometer before it gets completely over the top. The fact that a thread 'dakka over other..." even exists is a negative in my book, as many forums have a policy of not dissing other forums. However, it is interesting reading and I am replying so apparently morbid curiosity wins over polite restraint.
Dakka is also good for getting a pulse for competative playing. I'm not a very competative player, but it's nice to keep informed. The modeling/painting/converting sections here are quite good also. Dakka also has a great marketplace. Even though Bartertown is my favorite place to deal, I've setup a few deals here, and the selection is pretty deep.

This isn't a thread about dissing other forums and that's been stated regularly (including my OP). This is a thread where people can talk about how they see Dakka vs other gaming sites in terms of what things do other sites do better or what things do they think Dakka does best. Those few people who didn't listen and did bash other forums didn't pay attention to what the thread was about, and if this was about bashing other threads the moderators would have shut it down a long time ago.

And Dakka Dakka? I go here because I am a avid fan of Internet Drama, and you'll find me surfing sites such as Encyclopedia Dramatica, YouTube and DeviantArt in search of it. Dakka Dakka is where I tend to go for Wargaming related drama, and so far it has produced lots of golden material that I simply wouldn't find in any other forums (sans 40k blogs, which is on a whole different level compared to mere forum drama). I have, however, come to also appreciate the WIP and News boards, but reading drama is primarily why I first decided to frequent here. The whole deal with Ex Illis for example was very exciting, and I anticipate the next thread with much glee.
That's why I've lurked here for so long. It's great entertainment. Especially when the drama-monsters summarily ignore the moderators.

Eh, she's not bad, but she's more bus hot than actual hot...plus the article's content is pretty loltastic and slathered in silly 'girl on the internet' bull-pucky.
Warseer is alright but it's just way too easy to troll, even when you don't mean to. Sometimes people way over-react to things and you just gotta' run with it as long as you can for max value.
Dakka's a little better since there's more real player activity although I regard the YMDC section as an abomination that serves only to fuel some peoples' egos and drive inexperienced players away from the game.
Honestly, I give the same advice to everyone that I meet at the store regarding online forums in general: Talk all advice with a level head and a handful of salt, do what feels right regardless of what anyone says and take the time to learn things yourself; experience is the best teacher. Also, that I'm convinced people on the internet don't actually know how to play 40K.
