Dakka always seems so civilized to me. Even when you see a post that makes you go , the general etiquette is to be semi-kind and simply explain what you found wrong with their post, instead of -ing with a big old "WTF U R A NOOB LOLZ".
And the orkmoticons? Epic win. Really helps the site set itself apart from the others. Kudos to you, legoburner. I enjoy this site immensely.

Actually i wonder where the drama is on Dakka? Maybe that was before i registered.. as i didnt notice it yet.
I wont talk about other forums though, i like it here on Dakka that has to be enough talk.
One thing i wonder though, how can you talk bad about the girl, she looks rather good and has a nice smile and all.
I dont see a reason to talk like she has appearance issues...

Dakka is my home through and through. B&C is slow as gak, warseer is...wierd. People don't really introduce interesting conversation there...Sort of stagnant.

I also post on WargamerAU as it related directly to tournament gaming in Australia and is exceptionally well done in that respect.
Also we have a DCM mosh pit which has taken me away from the wasteland.... I may pop in there acctually.

As with Gonads, I only use Dakka these days. I haven't been near Warseer for years. Dakka was my first forum, and I've been lurking here for half my life.
WargamerAU is the only place online for Aussie tournaments, but I rarely use it otherwise except to peek at the occasional rules discussion.
I actually prefer the Silent Hill Heaven Forums, as Silent Hill is, essentially, my favorite thing, and SHHF lends itself much more readily to intelligent debate (You must be at least 17 years of age to join and any evidence that suggests otherwise results in an immediate suspension; There is an incredibly vigilant mod team that's very strict when enforcing the rules and closes threads at the first sign of trouble; It's a smaller community; etc.). However, they've recently undergone a few changes, and it's a bit offputting to me. I'm simply biding my time here until I can get used to it again.
However, this might as well be the only wargaming forum on the internet. I love to come here once in a while (at the very least) and let my jaw drop at some of the amazing painting and modeling presented here.

Dakka Dakka is good for the literacy rate of its users, and also the amount of input its users give out to painting logs. Warseer is good for getting lots of juicy rumors, plus large amounts of dry humor.
I have been reading DakkaDakka for nearly 8 years, so it is my main internet forum, even if I do not have the time to look through it like I used to.
I also check in on Work In Progress and Warseer build logs from time to time to get ideas. Otherwise I avoid Warseer. Warhammer Empire Forum for army specific information.
Away from the GW side of things Lead Adventure Forum and Frother's are where I head. I used to spend lots of time on TMP, but never registered, just tried to keep up with the news and discussion.

Asrai.org I love as it's realted to the pyramid vault ii which I've not been back to but run by many of the same people. Very creative people, no whining and well written tacticas. Nice community too.
Warseer - rumours and flee!
Librarium online - technically poor in quality but friendly people and little drama.
Dakka - friendlies, not a lot of drama and more 'input' than LO/Asrai. Has databases, wiki, gallery etc

The Gallery section here is awesome. When you need inspiration for a project, a quick search of the Gallery will get you going.
The Article section here is also great. If you haven't read through the articles, you really should. And not just the Humour articles! The modeling and painting sections are very helpful.
To compare it to the only other 40k boards I visit, B&C:
B&C has great advice for Space Marines and how Space Marines should handle different opponents. On the plus side, their painting areas are directly applicable to me since I'm primarily a space marine player. On the downside, they don't have all of the different races there. I get to see Kustom Ork Konversions here!
This site caters to all of the 40k races. Since I am a Black templar player, it takes a bit of searhing to find information that I could use. However, there is a lot of general discussion about the various armies that I don't get elsewhere.
1. Great mods and admins even if I don't like 'em at times
2. Avatar pictures, signatures, freedom to post images in posts, galleries, etc. allow for a lot of user customization that adds to the experience and I imagine bandwidth costs too. Don't see as much in other huge sites
3. Like BOLS seems more North American focused than the other huge 40k sites that seem more European; also fun that you see the flags of where the posters are from
4. Whole bunch of forums ranging from Off Topic stuff to all the major tabletop news
5. Gets news first hand although other sites are pretty good at keeping track of it once they're known
6. Its called Dakka Dakka!

1: Both forums have near identicle threads alot of the time
2: Both Forums have their share of rude and annoying members
Other then that.. there is no difference on the quality of posts..
Both forums have their ignorant people.. at least there is a nifty ignore function here.
3: Dakka has a much better Gallery
4: Warseer has better rumours.
Then of course.. Warseer is mosty European.. and Dakka seems more American.
Though.. mainly been playing Warmachine over 40k due to game balance and bored of 40k for awhile.. Ive been able to find the most help here on starting Warmachine then any other site that ive tried, So that is a ++++

So you are telling me that Warseer is Dakka Dakka without the Yanks and the Warmachine?

Though, one thing that makes me prefer this place is that it is not as vast as Warseer, so I don't get lost. Trying to make a foothold in Warseer is like trying to sail across the ocean in a dingy. If you don't keep at it forever, you get buried under the massive volume of posts that goes in to the place every day.
