The 18 inch LD bubble is cool.... I don't know. Maybe it's one of those things that plays better on the table then it would seem to on paper.

Princeton, WV

1. Lizardmen - Slaan, huge temple guard, large saurus blocks, engine of the gods steg, 15 cold one riders with char

2. Dark Elves (me) - Dragon lord, 3 hydra, CoB, Execs, 2 lvl sorcs w/ death, shadow, 40 spears, 2x20 RXB

3. High Elves - Teclis in large unit, lots of archers, seaguard, 3 reapers, 2 chariots, dragon prince.

I think its a simpler answer.. People (myself included) spent 60$ on an awesome looking model.. so we're gonna use it

I am honestly surprised people dont think its worth it.

For 200pts you get :

a 4+ ward

18" ld bubble.. crucial for skaven

a convient platform to hide on if anyone is stupid enough to challenge your general!

I get all that, plus I can still pick up to 100pts in items!

I think its great. The bell results are just icing on the cake. I can take clanrats, which imo are better than Plague Monks, since I can give them armor and a ward (in CC). My plague monks have done nothing but dissapoint since 8th ed came out.

well for 45 points you keep the 4+ ward, then you put the grey seer in a bunker of 30sh clanrats and nothing should touch him. (thats what skitterleap is for).

You lose the 18 ld, but i have a warlord that is in the thick of things so most of my army is in range.

I just dont feel the effects and 6 more inches of leadership are worth 155 points. It also does make your grey seer more vulnerable, as a volley of 20 shots, some are liekly to randomize onto the squishy Grey seer.

Also he loses the ability to skitterleap out if his unit does get in combat.

This is my opinion and ymmv!

Minneapolis (The Source Comics and Games, I was at this one)

1) Life Slann and Skink Spam with two large saurus blocks.
2) Skaven, stormbanner/combat heavy including warlord with felblade.
3) Daemons led by Papa Ku'gath (sp?) with a 45-man herald-led block of plaguebearers which nobody but nobody ever managed to kill.

Minneapolis (Misty Mountain Games, burnsville)
1) Skaven, Bell and a huge pile of artillery, 2x HPA.
2) Slann list as above
3) Teclis in about 50 phoenix guard (I may be exaggerating, but not by more than 50 or so).

1st: Empire with a SCAREY! amount of shooting, something like 4 cannons, 2 Hell-Storms, 2 Hell Fire's, and 2 Mortars. . .
He got my respect because he avoided any cheese, and his only character was Balthazar who he took for anti-magic.

2nd: Vampires (Lucky bastard didn't play me, the other high elf, or either empire player.)

3rd: Empire, I conceded when somehow teclis's unit failed to rally, and was caught by a steam tank, he had 2 of the volley guns, and at least 3 normal cannons, along with 2 steam tanks.) I screwed up due to being exhausted with a 12 hour tourney, (last game.)

I think our dwarf player would have placed but he missed 2 rounds, due to classes. . . I will tell him how well dwarves seem to be doing. . .
