Sorry, what? I've heard a very many people complain that CCG's are expensive. Particularly if you're playing competitively, since even if you don't go for the uber-power decks with ultra-rare cards that have to be tracked down through shady deals behind chinese restaurants, you usually have to keep buying as new sets come out to stay competitive and/or keep a legal deck.

Yeah, playing Standard MTG competitively is more expensive than 40k.

^True that, I spent 700 dollars on cards 3 years ago that are no longer legal in standard and don't equate into easily competitive in the other forms.

I bought the shock troopers, they weren't very detailed but I still liked the minis, they can fit a variety of themes. I dislike WGF because of their horrible customer service, it took over a month for the minis to arrive at my door, not to mention all of the emails I had to send to their "customer service" email address, I don't care how small of a company they are the way they handled my order was very unprofessional to say the least.

Sihamoni takes great pride in the league he helped create, as was conveyed in his recent advertising campaign for the CMFL that stated his midgets will "... take on anything; man, beast, or machine."

I've gotten WF's zombies, pith helmet guys, vikings and some celts as well. I like 'em, and feel that they've been improving the sculpts as they've gone along.

If you're comparing to some of the fantasy companies, yes they're under-detailed, but if you're buying them for historicals, Old Glory figs aren't going to look that different, frankly. And historicals gamers expect their figures to come in at a dollar a fig or cheaper.

I can't comment on the great coats as I haven't seen them in person, but the fact that they're making kits based on customer feedback (and moving pretty darn quickly) is pretty impressive. I suspect I'll get some other kits of theirs as time goes on. I have had good customer service so far.

What's even more impressive are companies like the Perrys and Warlord (among others) who are doing VERY interesting, detailed kits for historical gaming at a slightly higher but still inexpensive price point. Very pretty figs and while I haven't painted my Warlord ECW guys yet, they look terrific; enough so to have pulled me into a period I might not have considered otherwise (much to my wife's chagrin).

To paraphrase Insaniak (and Abraham Lincoln, allegedly): if this is the kind of thing you like, then you'll like it. If you prefer the GW style (or Privateer Press style, or all metal, or...), this isn't your cuppa.

Guinness: for those who are men of the cloth and football fans, but not necessarily in that order.

I think the lesson here is the best way to enjoy GW's games is to not use any of their rules.--Crimson Devil
