It's okay to take some real over powered units, but if you can realistically look at your list and think "man, It'd piss me off to face this", then don't do it. I'm talking about the "take 2 5 man scout squads just so you have more points to buy termies" kinda thing. Just don't do it. And just so you know, ma'am, the thing where the boxy guy (called a crisis suit) shot you then went backwards, that's legal.

Sorry if the title is misleading, i didnt know what else to call it. How about something like "When is sportsmanship called into question?" I'll change the title if we can agree on one

And as we all know, 40k is all about fething realism.

No spores because she didnt know about them

"We didn't know about spores" isn't really an excuse, you can't make a thread crying about "dick moves" and "sportsmanship" when you have full access to the counters for said "dick move" in your book, and just don't use them.

Once again, I'm not really trying to defend the Tau player here since he did do legitimately douchey stuff, but you chose a pretty odd thing to complain about considering all this new information. Complaining about taking a perfectly legal unit from his codex, rather than the fact that the list he was using was 8 points over, he made up his own rules for the mission to give himself an advantage, and acted like an donkey-cave bragging to people about how he was going to beat a noob. The issue here wasn't the railgun, but that's what you focused on...

I agree, the guy wasn't being very sporting, but it had nothing to do with him taking a tank.

It's d6+(S*2 to a maximum of 10).

In warhammer 40,000 the two are synonymous since S always maxes out at 10.

It's an important stipulation. Last thing we need is a bunch of brand new players swinging their Dreadnoughts around at S12.

-Even if we knew about the spores we didnt have the points to spare what she had to play with came up to just enough for a 500pt game, and yeah there is a counter in the codex for tanks like that and it would have been something an advanced player with that race would have known to use but we are talking about someone who had never played the game before. Remembering they were availiable or not would not have helped. Thats the point im getting at, this also should not have been a problem unless someone brings a super heavy tank to a game they are trying to show someone how to play.
