I know it will be sometime before list start taking shape, but I am really stumped as to what to pre-order?

I am thinking about going warrior heavy with something along these lines:

Archon with goodies (I really like the huskblade)
Incubi groupies all in a raider

3x10 warriors in raiders

3xRavagers

But I am not sure if I should put in some reavers or a unit or two of Wyches? A part of me is leaning towards Wyches, then @ some point when money allows, I can eventually expand and do a Wych themed force...

Thoughts??

Well, I've got 20 Incubi, and 60 Warriors in my army as my backbone of the army. A Talos, 2 Radiers with Warriors, and a Ravager, and 10 jetbikes. I have to say that has gotten me far, and I am currently undefeated with my Dark Eldar. Mind you, I haven't played them since 4th Edition came out, so the current codex is less competetive. I'd expect the same units to be quite useful in the new codex though.

Thorian Enclave Inquisitorial Guard - 6000points
Grey Knights - 4000pts
Divine Crusaders - 5000pts
Order of the Argent Shroud - 3500pts
Kabal of the Black Heart - 3000pts
Wife's Deathskulls - 4000pts
My armor is contempt, My shield is disgust, My sword is Hatred. In the Emperor's name, Let none survive.

@Lord_Astaroth:

I was messing around with tentative point values and came up with one the these two list:

THESE POINT VALUES ARE GUESSTIMATES!

HQ:
Archon w/Huskblade, Soul stealing item and Shadow field w/9xIncubi and Raider - 403pts

Elites:
10xMandrakes - 150pts

Troops:
4x10 Warriors w/Splinter Cannon in Raider - 640pts

Heavy Support:
3xRavagers - 315pts

Total: 1508 (will need to shave a few points)

Or

I could drop the mandrakes and have the following:

HQ:
Archon w/Incubi in raider - 403pts

Troops:
4x10 Warriors w/Splinter cannon in raiders - 640pts

Fast Attack:
6xReavers - 132pts

Heavy Support:
3xRavagers - 315pts

Total: 1490 with some wiggle room for wargear either for warriors or raiders. I wonder if Agonizers would be worth it for warriors?

I also wonder if 40 warriors is going to be enough or will they be too fragile and get stomped?

Would 3 Ravagers be overkill, maybe drop one for Agonizers in warrior squads or maybe get the Mandrakes back in the list or another warrior squad?

thoughts??

Silly question:
(forgive me, my brain is off today)

When you pre-order with GW, do they charge you at the time of the order or when the product is in?

I'm not certain, but unlike some of the larger vendors like Amazon, I believe they charge you at the time of the transaction rather than when the items actually ship.

That's kind of what I figured. Ah well, looks like I'm ordering from maelstrom- they are slightly cheaper anyways

If you're in the US, I'd take a good look at http://www.thewarstore.com/. 20% off GW list, flat $5.95 shipping no matter the size of the order, generally really fast service. There's also ChaosMailOrder and a few others on this side of the pond.

I'll certainly be adding some of these new DE models to my existing army eventually, but with all the other great GW stuff I've bought this year and over the past few years it may take a while. After looking at the Codex, the book is worth getting immediately. Very fun and interesting new DE troop types and ideas in it. Lots of conversion opportunities.

More DE previews from GW today at this link.

Let's see...sift through 38 pages of nonsense or just get the information on page 1....nope, I think you're ok.
Yes, this is nice, isn't it? Much preferable to 40 pages plus of arguing over armadillos and the like.

What I find interesting is that so many of the models look like they'd be quite compatible with a fantasy range (the Archon, for instance, wouldn't look out of place as a Dark Elf lord in WHFB). Heck, I'm probably going to pick up Lelith and the Incubi for a boss encounter in my D&D campaign.

I'll vouch for TheWarstore. I've made several orders over this past year. Only one issue (a missing bit) that they rectified immediately, no questions asked. Great service, fast shipment. You won't get it quite as fast as direct purchase from GW since it's being routed through them (and GW just sends direct to your house), but I can wait a few more days to save 20% off my preorder.

Rumor is that it's 10 models per raider. With the warriors, the raiders (and just about everything!) increasing in price, I think there is going to have to be some serious list-shifting.

Also, rumors are that this squad is about 100 points too light.

Wow...Looks like I will drop the Mandrakes for more warriors.

I wonder what special and/or heavy will be the dominate weapon?

Pallantide. I'd have to say that the second list is slightly more powerful. I've favored lots of warriors as they are cheap as well.

Divine Crusaders - 5000pts
Order of the Argent Shroud - 3500pts

@Lord_Astaroth:

Thanks again! Would you keep the reavers or drop them for another warrior squad?

Or should I drop the reavers all together and use the points to flesh out the squad leaders and get some goodies for the raiders, such as night shields?

I wish I could fit in some agonizers as they sound rather useful or would I be better off without them?

Thoughts?

DE without an agoniser is like a marine with no power armour.

Question :

If you can only take units of 10 models on a raider and the minimum is 10, this will mean that I could not take a unit of 10 wyches + an Archite/Wych HQ together on a raider...

Will wyches be able to take seperate retinues or will the 'elite wyches' be a 5-10 or 5-20 option?

I think that warriors and wyches units are 5-20. At least the Warriors are, according to the comments that Kroothawk posted in the DE rules thread's OP. I would say that Wyches are also 5-20. The 10 minimum is a requirement to buy a Dark Lance for the Warriors unit. I haven't read the codex so I don't really know if the numbers are true, but I would say it will work that way.

I'm guessing you can take 5-10 on a Raider. So you take a 9 man Wych squad with your Archon attached.
