Actually, DC and SS *do* count.
According to DoW2, the Blood Ravens won the DC campaign. And they lost the SS campaign.
You can pick up bits and pieces of information from the wargear fluff text. And there's Thule, of course. He served as the commander of the Blood Raven contingent on Kronus, and one of his in-game comments references the events on Kronus.
As for the books, they're by Goto. I read the second and third one. They're awful. They should be ignored, just like everything else that Goto writes.

When i said they don't count i meant you never hear what happens at the end. (they are mentioned in Dow 2 which is still updating)

Anyways.
A good amount of the 40K BL books are written about Space Marines, and just in general, Space marines do not make good Stories outside of battle. A Space Marine should not go off into a Moral dilemma in every book. A Space Marine is a Tool. You can't teach a Hammer to Love Nails(yes I know I stole this from the Venture Brothers). Now Guard and Inquisition books are good, because it's involving normal humans (for the most part). Moral dilemmas pop up with Normal Humans.
What really irks me though about the DoW games (beside the main Space Marine Character in the first one feeling bad about destroying a planet, Once again, hammer cannot love nails) is..well just what I posted before. There is more to Chaos that just Off the wall "DO you hear the Voice too!?" Characters. Sindri was a good Character, Eliphas was a Good Character. Both were just Evil at all costs. Both seemed very intelligent and acted like they were fit to lead (or manipulate) people to a goal. Bale, Carron, and the guy from Winter Assault whose name escapes me at the moment were Khorne Berzerkers in Alpha Legion Colors. "Dead Sky, Black Sun" had great Chaos Lords( well Warsmiths, but it's Iron Warriors we are talking about, same thing). Not all that is Chaos has to worship Khorne.
End of Speech.
Who ever said Marines where expressionless, they still have memories, personality (especially the blood ravens they cannot forget anything) it never says that Space marines where mentally fidled with they are still Human to an extent.

Well the fact their still human to an extent is arguable. They are mentally conditioned, indoctrinated and altered so much that usually they forget their past lives during their service as a space marine. Becoming solely focused upon martial skills, the chapter and serving the emperor and killing the Imperiums enemy's. Of course each chapter can have its own eccentricities at times. Like the iron hands which are fixated on bionic replacements and non codex command structure. And many other chapters that have their unique themes. But I still think that after everything they go through to become marines its arguable that along with their already inhuman bodies that their minds now function on a different level also.

I played all the DoW games as many of you have, and I like them. I don't feel that being video games invalidates the lore they introduce. The blood ravens are a such a great chapter to create spinoffs of because of all this conflict documented within their ranks - it gives you a lot of room to find motivations and causes for factions breaking off from the chapter. I support your idea of a renegade group that is not strictly loyal to the Imperium or worshiping Chaos. It's much like the Soul Drinkers (though I never really liked them as a chapter, I did like the concept). Maybe because they tend to have great numbers of high-ranking psykers, your company was lead by a Librarian of some standing, and he saw some dark vision of the future that prompted him to lead his company into their own territory. Also, I see nothing wrong with the wish for democracy, I think that it's a noble ideal that many space marines would value highly for its fairness. I could definitely see your company taking up residence on an unaligned world which shares their ideals that they protect from alien raiders, Chaos, and the Imperium when the need arises.
