I know I'm going on and on about this, but I am really impressed by this project. The vision you had to "see" it, the ingenuity (materials, etc) to get it started, and the skill of execution to make it all happen is making this one of my favorite projects on Dakka right now. Looking forward to the final product and can't wait to see what you are doing next.

Please go on about it as much as you like I'm just sorry I havn't had the time to finish it off .

Great job on this chainfist Tipios! The only thing you could do to improve it would be to reduce the length of the Dread's forearm.

I bet your Khorne dread will be really great looking.

Congratulations for your Thousand Sons dread, it's a great model : modelling and painting are both very well executed and the general mood of the model screams "CHAOS".

Good job

I'm still waiting for some explanations on the way you've made the doom siren fit the lascannon so naturaly.

Thanks everyone

For Hyenajoe, and anyone else who wants to know, I give you "doom siren lascannon"

First start cutting out sirens mouth with sharp knife.

The pipes Always snap when I do this but when finished you can glue back together.

Once you have cut out most of the mouth, use a half round needle file to finish off the rest.

Now, make a line across the back of the head as in the picture.

File down below the line until it is level with the bottom half of the siren.

Now we file the front of the siren down as in next photo.

Lastly we need to widen the inside of the sirens mouth, so that it slots over the lascannon.
So it looks like this.

Now test to see if it slots over. If you have filed enough out it will slot down with no problem, if it is a bit tight just file it out a bit more until it fits nicely.

Now green stuff to finnish it off.

If you don't like GS, try not to file so much of the mouth out, and keep slotting it in until you are happy with the fit.

Happy modeling chaps.

And happy new year!!

yeah tilting the head slightly to the right so the horn is facing the outside might make it look better. You considering the furioso dread for the other arm?

Thanks.

The GW dread is so over priced too, nearly ÂŁ40, jokers.

@Blitz - yes I need to order a right hand CCW, then I was just gona make another chain fist with BC head. I don't play the game, but most Khorne dreads I see have 2 CCW's is this normal, or are there other weapons they use?

@Enjoyablenewt - Thanks, good luck with the build.

Automatically Appended Next Post:
I could not help it, I've got so many projects that I should finish first, but I had to start my next dread

Parts so far.

I'm gona try to make the Tyranid guns into exausts.

I've painted the head and stuck it in place first, I think this will make life easier.

I want to do the skulls and chains like my last dread, but this time on the front. I could just stick them in place and move on, but adding rings makes it look so much better, even if it is a headache.

Any ideas are welcome.

I was gona do left and right chain fist the same, but not sure now. What other weapon should I put on? maybe just a claw?

Thanks for the tuto!

I must say I'm curious to see how these tyranid guns are gonna look like as exhaust stacks... I might think of it for my slaaneshi dread.

I notice that you've used the spare bits from the marauders icon to give a brutal look to the hull, that's a good point.
On the chains, I'd go for some good old glue. I know the rings would look great but the fixation points are going to be far lower than on your previous conversion and the chains might be hanging to close to the groud to be set before the feet of your dread ("Hey Dready, beware! Your shoe's untied!" )

And talking of feet, what are those feet you're using, Forgeworld?

I keep on watching this thread regularly, you've really got some good ideas man!

Thanks Hyenajoe.

I have been looking at the exhaust, and am thinking they are not really khorne too, so I need rethink. I might go for same as before but with bigger daemon heads. I will still make the exhausts with the tyrind parts and see how it looks.

Yes feet are forgeworld, but I use these legs just for testing. I prefer the GW as they are bigger.

Tried making the tyranid exhausts today, but it failed. Nothing looked good so all plans have changed.

I have used the skulls on chains idea from my first dread. I just love the way they look.

I'm going for a spikey feel for this dread, so cut up a chaos tank spikey thing.

Pinned them and stuck them on the top.

Now to add more flavour I've put some holes in a skull and skeleton body and stuck them over the spikes.

Tomorrow I want to get the skeleton body further down the spike, then stick another skull at the top. I'm not totaly happy with the chainsaw bloodcrushers heads on the arms.

Does anybody think, just have the bloodcrusher head as a CCW claw would be ok?

Anyway I need to try to find a right hand ccw on the internet, or have a twin linked lascannon, or build a twin linked autocannon, or has anybody got some other ideas?

The hanging skulls are very nice looking too. This dread is on the right path to become an amazing model!

@ Hyenajoe - merci beaucoup. I'm stuck on arms ATM, I've decided not to go with the BC head as chain fist on this dread, might just use the chain fist like on your dread. Also I think I need to get a MOD to change this to my blog of dreads as I've already got ideas for a dread, and want to make a nurgledread too. Hows your nurgle coing on?

@btemple0 - good point I can do that on this one.

Here's an update of dread.

Khorne symbol with more skulls stuck ontop of the venerable dread blank plates,

and sentinal missile launcher.

Now I need to think more about the arm weapons.
