Try having the dread taking a step forward, with the chainfist arm by its side, for example.

I Will get back to work on this as soon as I get bored of Fallout:Vegas

At last I have added some sort of face to my dread.

Now I can attempt to paint it this weekend.

Damn that looks cool.

One thing that would make it look extra awsome, would be to drill out the eyes and put an LED in the Sarcophagus. May be too much work though, I know I wouldn't try it.

Ha! Nice sarcophagus! I would say great minds think alike, but you are obviously of those damned types. Pity.

I really, really like what you did w/ the chainfist. The original idea looked a bit weedy and easily broken. The followup design is so awesome that I cam going to unashamedly rip off your idea and use it on my own Dreadnought. I really liked what you did for the Heavy Flamer as well, that was inspired, but I won't steal that one.

I'm enjoying this thread, I'll be back for more.

Now all you need is a red LED inside the sarcophagus and you'll be all set!

Thanks all,

I think an LED project will have to wait, I agree it would look but it's too late. I never even thought about it.

Started painting today.

My brush control is rubbish, but it's turned out better than I thought.

What is this best way to highlight silver?

Now I've tried adding chips to the paint, and attempted some rust marks.

To add a mud effect to the feet should I just dry bush some browns?

Nice color scheme. The rust effect looks cool. Macro photos are not always forgiving but it will look absolutely perfect on the tabletop.

And yeah, I don't know what happened when I clicked on ... I do know the difference. Really.

wow, you changed some things around since the last time I saw this model. Absolutely LOVE what you did with the chains coming off the power generator on the back....it actually looks like part of the model rather than a random bit glued into place....this project is turning out great!

Thanks Skalk,

I'm very happy with the colour scheme, I love imperial blue.
I'll stand back a bit on the next photos

Thanks element,

Yes those halos had to go, and I'm loving skulls, there's 2 more now on the front that look really cool too. I'm in the middle of painting now so I'll try to get some pics up soon.

Wow, there's been a lot of progress here since I last checked this thread!

Tipios, your dead is great! I really like the way you've used the doom sirens and how you worked sarcophagus (WoC marauder icon?), and from what I can see, your paint job is excellent!

Can't wait to see some paint on the torso.

Thanks Hyenajoe,

Yes it is a Woc marauder icon , and the skulls that I cut off from the head I have stuck to the front of the dread.

I still need to highlight and weather him, but hes coming on nicely.

This is turning out to be a realy nice engine of chaos! GW should take afew notes and consider updating their own chaos dreadnought, yours is much better. How did you paint the rust effects, they turned out fantastic!

I washed all the silver parts with a mix of Vallejo Umbershade and Fleshtone. The Fleshtone added that redish feel. I can't remeber if it was a 1:1 mix or not, which is a problem as I still need to go over the arms I then dry brushed and dabed different shades of brown over some parts. I did this randomly, so easy and very effective.

On the body work I built up the Umber shade so it looks like the rust is running.

I got this idea from awesomepaint job. Under one of his fav vids is a couple of tank weathering tuts, that are good for rust and mud.

I had to put painting on hold for a bit, but now work has calmed down and I'm allowed to use the dinner table for painting again I can fish it off.

Happy christmas everyone!!!!!

Its a simple touch, but I really like the Skull Chain hanging off the back. It looks like the model was built that way. Fantastic placement.

I'm sure the rest of the UK is happy my wish didn't come true.

I know I'm going on and on about this, but I am really impressed by this project. The vision you had to "see" it, the ingenuity (materials, etc) to get it started, and the skill of execution to make it all happen is making this one of my favorite projects on Dakka right now. Looking forward to the final product and can't wait to see what you are doing next.
