Hi all,

Even though you can just use the tendrils head now, I felt the urge to try to convert some ymgarl genestealers.

Due to a way too good camera, the file and greenstuff work look a mess. I really should try to work the greenstuff looking through a magnifying glass... Nothing that can't be fixed though.

I have just recently begun to convert models, so please feel very welcome to comment!

Inspirational keys were:

- "Their claw-tipped fingers can quickly elongate and fuse together to form curved blades and barbed hooks, or split apart as ropes of sinewy tendon to slash and ensnare..."

- "Ymgarl Genestealers have a writhing mass of tentacles..."

- "...uncontrollable instability..."

- anything that could be associated with or represent form alterings.

Ymgarl 1

Assymetrically placed spiky bits here and there, tentacle arm with hook, larger talons.

Ymgarl 2

Poison sacks, and extra scales on the back.

Ymgarl 3

Small tentacle in armpit, long tentacle from left side, part of ripper for head.

Ymgarl 4

Larger shoulder scales for head extension, extra scales on the back, one leg forward to illustrate some lurking/sneaking walk.

Ymgarl 5

Flesh hooks, larger talons, a bit streightened out posture.

Ymgarl 6

Parts of flesh hooks for fingers, gargoyle head scales attached on top of the tendril head complemented by (maybe a bit too much) greenstuff.

Ymgarl 7

Parts of flesh hooks for fingers (two spikes on right hand and three on left), tentacly spiky fingers.

Ymgarl 8

Part of ripper for head, on-its-way-to-the-left-pose.

Ymgarl 9

Parts from 3 rippers and a gargoyle tail for head, larger talons. (Elephant look alike effect totally unintended! )

Ymgarl 10

Two double talons, adrenal glands on back, ripper for head.

Thanks!

I am currently working on several projects. I am almost done with a harpy, scratch built (not wanting to use any carnifex body parts). I have also begun to find a shape for tervigon and tyrannofex legs/scything talons and their bodies.

My main ambition is to make them all look like the pictures in the codex, and as big. It's a bit hard to tell how big they are meant to be, but they will all be quite big. I'll post my interpretations later on when there is something to look at.

Really nice use of rippers as heads, especially the 'spikey' ones - I may have to steal that idea, maybe for my Lictor conversions.

Good looking Ymgarls, I think the GS needs a little smoothing, but other than that, they look great! If you want some inspiration for your Tervigon, check out my gallery, I've built 3 of the buggers.

How nice of you to say! Thanks. Do try it, they are alot of fun, not only to play but because there are so much room for conversions.

They are spray painted now, and one of these weeks they will be completed.

Thanks. I agree, that camera really is too sharp. But yes, the GS needs smoothing, definately.

Your tervigons are really nice pieces of work Granesh! Good inspiration.

Great conversions!

But you really need to smothen the GS edges, otherwise it will look crap when you paint it. There must be a very smooth transiton between the GS and the plastic.

And I totally agree. I need to get a magnifying glass too. Those parts sort of looked better before my friend's pro camera caught that blurry GS work..
