Hi all,

Here's mine. Lots of different treasures from the bit box contributed to this one.

The tin body part (mostly covered with gs): Some odd nid-ish body/tail, looked like a giant gargoyle, but have no clue what it really was.

Mid tail: rattle tail bit from trygon/mawloc kit. Paper clip pinning.

End tail: a tiny bit of balrog tail.

Arms: genestealers'.

Neck and base spiky thingy: niddy-ish terrain bit that ships with a spiky hole. You have all likely seen it.

Base: skulls, eldar heads, more skulls, eldar weapons, and some more skulls, representing slain Malan'tai Eldar folk.

Head: carved carnifex head with three eyes, trygon head scales, old school hive tyrant vents (a bit chopped off), chopped off tiny venomthrope extra back vents.

Ribs: only greenstuff. Doesn't show well in the pictures, but there's some bony green stuff there.

Lots and lots of gs. It was fun to make this one. =)

More hi-res pictures, showing different angles, can be found here: http://www.dakkadakka.com/gallery/images-31623-12209_Doom%20Of%20Malan%27tai.html

Thoughts and comments are indeed very welcome!

I really like him! That's a good pose, and his head looks like something from the Eagle comics

How are you intending on painting him? Also, isn't it quite top heavy?

Not if its pinned. I like the GS work on the brain area. Very Giger.

Thanks!

The head and body shape is indeed comical, DoM in a nutshell for you.

The head it not heavy at all. It's not made of solid GS. I chopped a hollow plastic dinosaur and glued some pieces from that first, to make the shape. The only GS I put was the visible brain and a thin layer of GS beneath it. But to be on the safe side, I have glued a heavy piece of metal under the base.

It will be mostly black, following my paint scheme. Brain colour... hmm.. not sure yet. Possibly something shiny, perhaps even glimmering. This shrike shows my general paint scheme:

Disgusting and awesome. The head/neck does look a bit unusual, but I think that makes it a much better model as the doom of malantai in my mind's eye looks exactly like what you have created - a zoanthrope that just looks kind of wrong. Great work!

Thanks alot! The neck look and general body shape are inspired by the codex concept art and my interpretation that the DoM is just a huge 'intellectual' explosion beast with a thin, fragile, dangling spine-wannabe thingy attached beneath it.

I really like the thin body. A thinner tyranid is hungrier, and therefore scarier.
Great job.

His brains are a weakspot lol.

Thanks. Totally agree.

Thanks! That's excellent. Alien/Giger is my main inspiration!

Indeed. Brains without carapace and a puny, dangling spine-body aren't the best krak receivers.

A Doom-O-Malan'tai that isn't a Zoanthrope covered with antennae! I applaud the originality and the awesomeness of this conversion

The 2nd edition zoanthrope is the zoanthrope model in my army. I might have been unconciously inspired by it. I really like the 2nd ed zoans.
