tipios wrote:@ Hyenajoe - merci beaucoup. I'm stuck on arms ATM, I've decided not to go with the BC head as chain fist on this dread, might just use the chain fist like on your dread. Also I think I need to get a MOD to change this to my blog of dreads as I've already got ideas for a dread, and want to make a nurgledread too. Hows your nurgle coing on?

Here's an update of dread.

Khorne symbol with more skulls stuck ontop of the venerable dread blank plates,

and sentinal missile launcher.

Now I need to think more about the arm weapons.

Nurgly boy's primed an ready for paint (I just need some time to paint now - sometimes, being a responsible father is a rather time-eating hobby ). Unfortunately my home PC is not yet back from the dead and I can't upload new pics...
My slaaneshi and tzeentchian dreads are still only projects since it seems USPS has lost my bits order...

If you need WIP pics of my dread's chainfists ,check my "Khorne Dreadnought" gallery .

I agree your thread deserves to be transfered to the PM blog section.(and it would be easier to find it than in the bubbling Painting and Modelling).

I really like the venerable dread plates, they're just fine for a chaos dread, and I should get a pair of those for my next dreads (especially the Slaaneshi)

However, if you allow me a small critic, the missille launcher on top breaks the "majesty" of the trophy rack. On a purely visual point of view it drags the eye away from the great details of your dread and makes it look too bulky (I know, a Dreadnought is meant to be bulky...but...).
However, you might include this missile launcher in one of the Dread's shoulder (or split it and include it in both shouders)

Anyway, I can't wait to see more progresses on your dread!

Hi Hyenajoe,

The venerable plates are great, I've ordered more for my next dread too.

I agree with you about the missile launcher luckerly I never glue anything until im 100% with it.

Now I'm trying to make a twin chainsaw arm with 2 sentinal chainsaws, and a missile arm with 2 sentinal launchers. Waiting for parts to arrive to finish them off.

While waiting for bitz to arrive for my Khorne dreadnought, I could not resist starting my next Slaanesh dread.

The theme is noise, so I thought that faces that looked like shouting were appropriate.
Here is the WIP so far.

When more bitz get in I can make some weapons.
I want to make a sonic blaster, or blastmaster. If anyone has made when or got ideas for one I would like to see or hear your ideas.

Get a couple of sheets of plasticard, and a small diameter piece of PVC, about four to six inches in length, bisect the pipe using a dremel or other rotary tool of the sort and use the plasticard to make a long oval tube, and add some bits to the front end for the barrel and attach the rear to the shoulder somehow, then again I may just be rambling, either way great job so far.

Thanks btemple, Oval tube! I didn't think of that. I might stick a doom siren on the end, and see what it looks like

Your first dreads paintjob is great too. Keep it up!

Wow.

I haven't checked in here fort a bit, and in a word I am stunned. Like "slack-jawed". Staring with googly eyes saying "woooowww". Ha.

I am resisting the urge to make a new Dread. I am buried under an avalanche of Death Guard at the moment and with my motivation level being lower than it has been for months I have to resist or I'm going to have the biggest Shelf of Shame entry since I stopped painting my Orks.

But once I get things going again and catch up I am sooooo going to get my hands on a plastic Dread and do absolutely horrid things to it. I have some ideas I'm -stealing from- crediting to you, and a couple other Dakkalites have contributed in their own way. But I'll hold off on anything more because I'm so overwhelmed I can't hardly keep my work area clean let along produce a finished product.

Amazing work. You have my respect.

Yay!!! Go for the sonic weapon! I also like the use of Daemon prince exhausts on the dread!

@Skalk Bloodaxe, thanks alot. Keep going with the death guard, it's a very impressive army

@Hyenajoe, thanks, yes I thought the daemon prince parts looked like speakers so I copied forge world and stuck them there. I got a few bits in the post today, so have started making my sonicy thing.

More pics.

I've used a seekers standed as my slaanesh symbol.

Now for the sonic weapon. I tried a few things but they all failed, but then in the post came my latest bitz order which included a seismic hammer.
I carefully cut the end off,

and stuck it to a twin linked lascannon arm which I had already cut up.

Now all I need to do is add is a grill or speaker cone. I was gona stick a doom siren on the end but it looks rubish.

Try the speaker cone, IMHO it would look better inside the hole than a grill of sorts.

@btemple0 I've gone for the cone, but first I fitted another part of the seismic hammer inside to add more detail.

Started to make it look more chaosy too by adding spikes.

Btw how many extra heads does the Blood Crusher kit come with. If I ever got one,I might take a leaf from your book.

@MudgeBlack - Thanks, MORE coming soooooon

@azekio - Thanks

@Melkhiordarkblade - Thanks, I got the bloodcrusher heads from a bitz seller, so I don't know if the kit comes with any spare.

@Hyenajoe - Sonic weapon has turned out slighty differently too what I first thought of, it was gona have doom siren on the end, but when I saw the seimic hammer's end looked like a bass tube that you would have in your car for mega sound, I went with that. Now here's latest, ccw arm prototype 1.

After using seimic hammer for sonic boom weapon, I have the left arm peace that it would normaly attach to left over. I want to try and make my own ccw, so after cutting the part that holds the hammer, we are left with a blank left arm. Time for some converting maddness.

I have decided to use parts from the sentinal's legs to make the arm.

I thought it was too big, but puting it againts my tzeentch arm it is the same length.

As the end off the arm looks like a flammer, so thats what it is going to be, now I want to add sentinal chainsaws to both sides of the flammer for a chainsaw bloodfest

I need to get some plastic rods so I can add, details like pistons, also need hose effects, and spikes

Can anybody in UK tell my where they get their's from, I find lots of sites, but I'd rather buy from somewhere that one of you guys recommend.

Right i'm off to continue my work, if I get anywhere with it I will post it tonight.

I, LOVE, THIS, THREAD!! More chaos dreadnoughts are needed! Have to finish my dreads soon too, althought I'm stuck with the GW metal one -.- Other one is the FW nurgle dread thought, one of my favorite models.

It's to bad that there are no rules for using a sonic weapon on dreads, what will you count it as?

Can't wait to see these guys finished!!

@Limbo Thanks I'm loving doing this thread too . Yes GW need to release a new plastic chaos dread, old one is to out of date. Buy a plastic SM dread convert it for the win
I really like your iron warriors. I was thinking of doing an Iron warriors dread using ironclad torso, does the iron warrior dread have a special weapons layout, or is it just normal?

I don't play the game, but I think you can count it as plasma gun.

Found some blu-tac, so I mocked up what the arm would look like on the dread. Im happy with it so far.

Daemon head will be the flamer

For the ultra win I think I need to copy this for the right arm, but getting the parts would be a pain, I would have to cut up the right arm ccw from the ironclad, and they are rare to find on bitz sights.

Any comments welcome

Very good job on the CCW! Have you thought of putting a chainsaw where you've placed the flame thrower (or above)?
What are you going to do for the 2nd arm, another CCW?

I usually get my bitz from Hoard of bits on ebay (they're great as long as USPS doesn't lose the parcel). Check their shop they usually have great stuff for dreads.

@alexwars1 Thanks, what have you tried to convert?

@KRUDD Thanks, Well I wish I could finish them quickly , I plan on putting them on my shelf and admiring them

@Hyenajoe Do you mean put a third chain saw for even more hacking up goodness? thanks for pointing out ebay sight I will look through. I am planing to try and make the same arm for the other side, but will take alot more work, as they don't make a seismic hammer type arm. I'll have to do some serious cutting up of a GW right side ccw. I was thinking of doing an twin linked auto cannon on the end of the same type of arm i've done for the left arm.

-drool- yeth thur!

The auto cannon is a good idea.

The only thing that I'm not sure with your CCW is the length of the arm (or perhaps its the picture). Otherwise it's a really inventive work, I like this.

@hyenajoe when the arm is glued it will be higher up, it's only being held up by blutac so it droops down too much. Auto cannon on the way . Now I need to think up a ccw for the slaanesh. I've orded more seimic hammers because I like the top half of the arm, but I don't want to make it the same as the khorne.

Looking through the GW website I saw the SM drop pod, and for some reason want to chaosyfy one, but want to wait until I get these 2 dreads done. Oh and my leman russ needs finishing, and my havoc squad and terminators and oblitorater

About the Slaanesh dread CCW, just remember that the claw has been Slanneshi's predilection weapon for maaany years!

I've seen a thread from a guy who made a basic, but effective conversion of a SM Drop pod to Chaos. Problem is: I can't find this thread (I'm really, really tired these times)
