That's what I meant. Criticism is all fine and dandy. Endless criticism, especially when you don't even read the product even without buying it, is repetitive and obnoxious.
Hooray, between the two of us we now have an anti-hyperbolic negativity patrol.

I noticed this morning that the price for the new White Dwarf model is $13.25 on the US website instead of the $15 of the past two years. A nearly 12% price drop is always good.

Sorry, my bad. Not limited edition, just RRP £6 special character. What a rip off

I know what you were trying to say though. But there is a logistical problem with including models with the magazine proper.

The irony of the fact that criticism of others' posts is also repetitive puts a smile on my face.

Well I kind of moved near Toronto, actually.

More like:
Make a Dwarf model->Intend it for White Dwarf as a Subscriber's Bonus->End of Story, but Internet Whiners Will Assume It Was Meant For Games Day.

I mean really, why would you think this was ever intended for a Games Day?
They have, without fail, for the past few years made some kind of Dwarf model in a wacky costume/posing/theme to have as a bonus to White Dwarf subscribers. I can't actually think of, in almost a decade, them ever having a Dwarf model for Games Days.

The Watcher in the Dark wrote:I miss the days when individual White Dwarf issues included freebies like this. One of my first White Dwarfs was back when they released Mordheim and it came with a limited edition elf special character. Nowadays you have to buy a years worth to get a model that probably won't get used...

That "limited edition Elf special character" wasn't. It was Aenur, The Sword of Twilight and up until a few years ago he was still available via the webstore.

They've never(as far as I know) really released "exclusive" models with White Dwarf issues. They've pretty much always been a single model off a sprue from a starter set, or a pair of them(like the Terminator/Ork from Black Reach).

ok then make a crappy model -> not good enough for regular release -> not good enough for delayed release -> not good enough for splash release -> not good enough for Games Day -> not good enough to give to Rogue Traders for some stupid promotion -> give it with White Dwarf

Given that GW released the old metal Possessed, I'm not sure there is as much of a rule against being too crappy for general release.

I think it's far more likely that GW realized that only collectors are swayed by a limited edition model. At that point, it doesn't matter what it is. Conversely, they could make the coolest, most useful gaming piece, but the tournament players would either buy it second hand, convert one, or buy a dupe off of ebay (most likely unwittingly).

If you have a market that enjoys limited edition models that don't need to be playing pieces, why not have some fun? Especially since I think (as do others) that is' actually kind of a characturful little mini.
