From Warseer.

..err.. well.. it's a nice sculpt. I believe he is to get/has rules for him in a forthcoming issue of WD as well.

... I guess it had to be a dwarf. Again. I can't help but think they'd sell a lot more subscriptions if the model was something a bit more useful. Say a special character model or one with some wargear that you can't get otherwise.

The white dwarf mentions that the propeller is too small for a gyrocopter, maybe he's to be placed aboard the dwarven blimp that has been rumored of before.

Either way, there will apparently never be a model that will make me buy a subsciption. I hate dwarves :( but that's just me.

Oh im so getting this model. If it was free with the subscription...and I liked it...and I used dwarves...and other stuff.

I do wish they would go to models that have some playing value. I understand putting out a White Dwarf "collector" stlye model but why not make it a limited release for the "collectors" and put something useful for those of us (the majority?) who looked forward to such models.

However, it is snazzy looking, reminds me a bit of the ork/human pilots Forgeworld put out a year or so ago.

If it was a way to get a new model a few months before it's available in the stores, as well as a way for GW to build hype about a new army, I'd be in favour of this idea. But making a particular special character or set of wargear only available if you buy 40 pounds of magazines (that apparently haven't been worth reading since Paul Sawyer left) would be rather obnoxious.

I like to look at it the other way - you buy the model, and with it comes 12 months worth of thick advertising pamphlets.

My last multi-year subscription is almost done.

This isn't enough to get me to re-up.

I might finally be ending my many, many years of subscribing to this 'magazine'.

And, strangely enough, GW does nothing to try and keep its current subscribers.

No notice in the mail, no phone call, no incentives, nothing!

Weird!

You raise an interesting point about the lack of effort to retain existing subscribers much less draw in new ones. I still have 2 years to go on what was a 4 year re-up last time they had good incentives with free issues and limited edition models, but I'm not what I'll do when that runs out. They haven't had a decent deal since then. All the time I've had a subscription every few years at least they'd have some kind of good incentives and I'd resubscribe at that time, usually for multiple years to take advantage of the deal. I've had a subscription now for probably about 20 years, but when my current subscription ends in 2 yeas I may have to seriously think twice about renewal for the first time ever. But, since I still have a subscription at the moment I'll be grabbing one of those White Dwarf aviator models for sure.

I love the Dwarf Army but sadly find the model singularly bloody useless.

They need something a lot more interesting to get me to subscribe.

Like a magazine worth subscribing to, with or without silly cartoon dwarves

Incidentally, does WD use recycled paper?

No.
And unfortunately is made of the wrong sort of paper to make a comfortable, absorbant arsewipe!

Meh, even if I did have a dwarf army at the moment (instead of merely planning one) I wouldn't want that model.

That will be sure to attract more subscribers !!"
"Brilliant !!"
"Stellar !!"
"Make it so !!"

Right ... I collected White Dwarf issues from well-before issue 200 and had a continuous sub from 200 on. I gave up the hope that the rag would improve and cancelled my subscription a couple of years ago and haven't missed it. There was no "Subscriber Retention" plan in place back then either.

This may be a shock to some gamers here, but the models are a hobby in and of themselves and some hobbyists and collectors appreciate that. Not every model has to have a game use for making other people cry at the local game store. Some people like cool models. Game use is a plus, but it's not always everything.

Absolutely correct, BrassScorpion...
and some of us are entitled to believe that this is a model distinctly lacking anything cool.

I think people are also forgetting that the magazine is called white dwarf....and every promotion model in the last few years has been just that....a white dwarf.

Personally, I loved the White Dwarf in space model. I thought it was hilarious. This...meh! And it took a long time for me to give up the ghost, but no model is enough to make White Dwarf worth subscribing to for me.

Not every model will please every collector, but I appreciate the fact that the comment recognizes the fact that some models are produced just for the sake of the model and nothing else.

Personally, I like the WWI aviator theme of this new model, but I'm a bit of an aviation buff. I also enjoyed the the WD In Space 2010 model and painted it with a NASA space suit color theme.

Because your post is way better.

I'll never understand why attacking somebody's opinion is somehow more noble than sharing that opinion in the first place.

I think it's a neat model but, not nearly enough to get me to subscribe to White Dwarf.

And your last line says all that needs saying.

You like the model, but don't fancy the magazine that you need to procure it. No problems there.

But...seriously...check out the egos on here. It's as if they can actually 1) Sculpt for Toffee 2) Produce *any* kind of magazine 3) are Captains of industry themselves and 4) not just scrotes on the interwebs squealing at an uncaring world where the only place they feel they have anything resembling importance is an online forum. A place they can safely bury the feeling that nobody really cares...

Not interested in the mini, looks nice and all but no use for it. Id like to have a WD sub...but $75 a year is just a bit steep for a magazine focused on just one companies products. Double so since I dont play WHFB, so I would only be in it for 40k related articles.

Whats my game?

i like the thought that went into the mini, but (ya ya, me and my buts) the propeller should have been part of the base and not held IMO. as it is, its a great mini. just not worth the subscription cost.

Why not give 8th Edition Fantasy a bash. Is a very different (and IMHO superior) beasty to the previous ones?
