How long do you think you'll continue with the hobby?
It will keep me amused for another year or so
I think there's at least another 5-10 years fun to be had
I'm here for the long haul, ask me again in 20 years
I'll keep going until they stop making war gaming products
I've no idea

I'm stuck in this hobby until the bitter end, there is a certain type of satisfaction that no amount of awesome graphics and financial crises can ever sate!

I'm here for the long haul provided I have friends that are in it and there is a supply of cool models to paint.

I am much in the same boat as Luco. And with as much as it costs to play ... no reason to quit for me.

My hobby tends to ebb and flow between wargaming miniatures and historical kits. When I go away from the wargaming stuff I make more proper kits like tanks and cars. The modelling and painting hobby I'll probably be doing forever in some shape or form. I'm keen on getting into the RPG side of things, I might well ease back on warhammer completely and go into D&D, historical modelling or trying a other smaller skirmish games.

Iv quit before. Then didnt start again for 15 years.

Started again in Jan 2010. Have a squad of Guardians, Walker and half an Eldar tank painted up. Not much. I just find it hard to get the time to do it.

Yet to have a game too.

Currently collecting and painting Eldar from W40k.

I thought I could leave 40k in the rear view mirror before I went to college but in 6yrs of absence from actually playing games I have picked up a shadow sword, baneblade, tons of infantry, and got into flames of war ahahahaha So I guess I'm in it for the long haul, hell or high water I love building models of any kind

I was 14 when I discovered what "Eldar" was. I played for 2 years, then discovered video games. I reserviced in a GW when I was 21 and refound 40K.

I've been at it for a solid run of 10 years straight. But even in my abscence I used to still wander into comic shops and buy back issues of white dwarves. I voted for 20 more years, but I hope one day i'm old and gray and rolling dice with my son.

Who knows, maybe by then the models will have little inbedded LED's to trace true line of sight?

Like many of you, I've been in the "hobby" for more than 20 years.

I've had some off years but I've always had my stuff waiting to be assembled and painted.

The only way I would consider giving it up would be to finally finish all of my projects that I've started. So far I have about 400 models to paint and over 50+ tanks with it increasing as more of the new kits come out.

So essentially till the day I die....

Personally, I'm over some sort of hump. Having been a born again gamer for 10 years (I rejoined the hobby in 2001 at the age of 33, having not been involved in gaming since I left college, over a decade before) I'm still actively involved in collecting painting and playing. But only really because I have a couple of friends and 2 sons who enjoy it, and its fun, social time with them that I enjoy, so the hobby is a means to that end.

If they quit or move away, I suspect my involvement will cease. I'm not interested in being a solo gamer or painter, and I don't want to go gaming with a bunch of strangers. I'm too much of a grumpy old sod to go making new friends these days!

I really shoudnt be in it. I tend to buy games and minis and never play them. They get built and painted but then it fizzles. With work, wife, and 2 kids getting time can be tough. A raging case of ADD doesnt help. I switch gears and ideas so fast its crazy.

However, I really enjoy it. There is just something about getting that new mini, or game book or box set and sitting down to pour through all the new info.

Its also my only real hobby. I used to do the car club/street racing thing, but I grew out of that. I was into gaming before that, and came back to it after. Guess its just where I want to be.

Whats my game?
Warmachine (Cygnar)
10/15mm mecha
Song of Blades & Heroes
Blackwater Gulch
X wing
Open to other games too

Well, I'm in my 40s and I just started (with my son) a couple years ago. I think all you younger dudes will see it come and go (as I have with all my hobbies) as your kids appear and grow and eventually get busy with their own stuff and leave you alone again!

Like someone said earlier - painting is easy to fit in and stay 'around the house' - I have a harder time getting away for hours at at time to get in big games.

Kids just take a lot of your time & attention sometimes (it changes every year) and that will bite into your copious 'me' time. It's cool though because kids are so awesome. They are the most fun you will ever have.

Just promise that during the 'little league years' you don't give up and sell your awesome armies. save them until you have time again. and then look me up. By then my kids will be in college and I'll have lots more time to goof around. I plan to keep playing. (and maybe I'll have time for my SCA fighting again too!)

Don't write yourself off osbad. I'm a fellow grumpy old man loving every minute of my second 40k incarnation as a Tau. I must have done something good in my previous 40k life (aside being perennially assaulted by death jesters on drugs). The part I've enjoyed the most is meeting a good peer group that share my interests. Forums like this have been instrumental in getting connected with these guys.

I can't ever see it not being fun, though responsibilities could end up nerfing things. I'm enjoying it while it lasts (that is as long as my girlfriends patience holds out!).

At first I was thinking of saying maybe a year or so. But I got to thinking a bit more. Though I don't play as much as I used to I still very much enjoy reading about games (rules, fluff, battlereports) and working on the models. I've only been at this maybe about 3 years now and I'd say I have enough interest for another 5 or so... maybe until I get a kid of my own... when that happens I will train him/her to play my games of WoW and LoL for me while I watch old episodes of the X-Files and Ninja Turtles.
