Senario- I'm watching Star Trek when my honey comes stalking in from the bedroom, grumps onto the couch and snatches the remote away from me to turn the channel.
I keep calm and gently ask "what's wrong?"
Her reply "If you don't know what's wrong, I'm not going to tell you" as she angrily glares at the TV.
I pause for a moment, then reply back "If you won't tell me what is bothering you, I guess it isn't that important"
Bam. She stalked off, yet came back 15 minutes later, apologized, told me how she felt about something inconsenquensal and we moved on.

i often heard thats in a realationship someone is loving the other more than the firts one...so i guess being the lucky one with a line like yours your wife loves you a really great deal more like you...after that comment i can see all of frazzled or fitzz further conversational attempts and also spontaneous divorce...i really would only get something like that out of my mouth if all hope would be forsaken...but as i said before your really lucky to have her, give her a big hug from me...^^

This was a girlfriend from long ago. When we talk, we laugh about it.
Girls don't have a right to be disrespectful and hold it over our heads that we did something wrong and then not tell us what is upsetting. That's a manipulative game and they should be called on it.
I stated to her that if she didn't feel it was important enough to tell me what was wrong, it's probably not that important. She had to make a decision. Was what was bothering her important enough to get over her ego and talk to me about like an adult, or was it trivial and really not important? When she sat down and thought about it, she came to the conclusion it was important to her and she talked to me about it. We resolved the difference like adults, instead of me coddling her, sucking up and trying to appologize for something I had no clue about.
From that point on in the relationship, if something was bothering her, she came out strait and told me what it was. I never had to guess, because she knew if she tried to make me guess or feel guilty for not knowing, I wasn't going to play that game.
It's a man's job to be blunt and let her know in no uncertain terms that you are not going to play that way. She, in return, should be blunt and let you know when you are trying to play games.

Ah, Dark saint, good call there. I read this whole damn thread, and was wondering whether to even bother adding in my two cents to people that probably don't care, then i read your last response and i reckon you have the most wisdom so far...
At least that's what my GF told me to say!
