Dreadwinter was my character from WoW, I made a reputation for myself (lulz, on WoW) on there and it stuck.

I usually go by Draclau on forums though. Not sure why I went with Dreadwinter here.

Clay-eh-Mor is unusual? It's just a big sword (lit: 'Great Sword' ). Dh and Mh make learning Gaelic fun. (their sounds change depending on which vowel precedes them or where in the word they are). Had an Irish ex-girlfriend. Started to learn it as a way of getting to know her better. We fell out.

Mine is a simple one.

Firstly: From a character in a WoD (Werewolf) game where I played a Glass Walker (City-based, urban and quite civilised werewolf faction) hacker whose "virtual" name was meant to be "the chrome god" and whose Avatar was a chrome Crinos (traditional wolfman half man/half wolf). I made a typo on the character sheet and it came out as "the chrome dog".
Secondly, it both refers to my age and my hair colour.
I'm 42, considered somewhat 'long in the tooth' and an 'old dog' (as in 'can't teach an old dog new tricks').
My hair is silver. Chrome - silver - old dog - chromedog. Helps people pick me out of the crowd at gaming events.

I'm OVER 50 (and so far over everyone's BS, too).
Old enough to know better, young enough to not give a ****.

That is not dead which can eternal lie ...

... and yet, with strange aeons, even death may die.

It's my nick name in my unit.

It all started in Operation Unified Response (...what a name, right?) in Port Au Prince, Haiti early last year. I was really bored walking down the streets during our supervision... stuff and I decided to draw male genitalia on the hood of a local's dust-covered car. Everyone started laughing, and they started calling me Dick Bandit.

Makes complete sense. I wish I had a "Life" (whatever that is). I'm stuck in my bedroom painting pieces of plastic listening to disco and eating hershey's oreo cookie bars:

I needed a Youtube name, not particularly sure how I came up with it, but Darkvoidof40k seemed pretty cool at the time because I was planning on being the next BTP or some crap.. that idea went to hell, but it seemed like a reasonably good idea for this Forum.

It's a band I like, I've used for a couple of internet usernames. Pretty dull reason, really.

Waaagh_Gonads wrote:Back in the 90's a show in Oz bought a greyhound and would race it live each week and it was called 'nads' so that people at the track would yell 'Go Nads'

My ork warlord started as 'Nads', and wevery time a great roll would come up my gaming group would yell 'Gonads', so eventually that is what the name transformed to.

That explanation is all kinds of amazing. I just want to hear a whole crowd chanting, "GONADS! GONADS! GONADS!"

Have you heard of the similar term, 'arse bandit'?

Uh... I think that I must have been playing Final Fantasy 12 at the time-lots of Wyrms in there- and was looking for a quick and easy name for a sword that I'd made for a mod for the game Oblvion. So yeah...I needed an alternative username to my usual ones and it kind of stuck after that. Dead exciting.=P

I had previously used Kal Jerico (Long time ago), which led to some friends calling me Kal. Others prefered to focus on the second part, which in retrospect should've been expected... (Jerico is donkey, for those who don't know).

Then, I used Jon Irenicus, which led to just "Jon". This was boring, so I eventually changed to Darcia from Wolf's Rain. This can also mean a brazillian female name, and using it in IRC led to me growing tired of "fans" (but not after some of the most hilarious "conversations" I ever had).

Eventually, while watching one of the Evangelion movies, I lheard about Destrado. I investigated it, and I liked it. So I got "Monsieur le Comte de Destrado" and my ex-GF got "Mademoiselle la Comtesse de Libido", which are opposites... That, and the portuguese word for clumsy is "Desastrado", which I also though was adequate.

Waaagh Gonads and Fitzz' are great!

When I was...10 or so, I began to play Starcraft online. I was presented with the huge deal of choosing a user name. At the time, I was gobbling up any information WWII related, and wanted my name to reflect something from that famous war.

I racked my minds thinking of things - from the 101st Airborne, to the pacific theater, to nicknames for soldiers from various armies, to generals (Rommel tempted for a while, and seriously considered "TheDesertFox"), but nothing really satisfied me.

Eventually, my thoughts found Russia, and how, considering the Cold War between my beloved USA and the USSR right after WWII, it seemed like they never got a fair shake for their sacrifices in the war - after all, if Russia fell, things would have been much, much harder for the Allies. Thinking on this, I made my name a tribute to all those who fell in battle, and it just happened to be my favorite color. The nickname for the army of the USSR it was. "TheRedArmy" was born.

Flashman is a character originally from Tom Brown's School Days (famous British book from Victorian era). He is the school bully but gets expelled for being drunk.

In the 1960s, George MacDonald Fraser decided to take the character and use him as the "hero" for a series of historical novels that sees Flashman running for his life or begging for mercy (as occasion demands) during a number of well known historical events (the Retreat from Kabul, the Charge of the Light Brigade, The Indian Mutiny, Little Big Horn etc etc) throughout the mid 19th century. The books are hilarious and you end up learning stuff too.

My name has a weird story to it...

When I was 15 my ex-girlfriend was part of a forum for scene/emo people, and so she wanted me to join it.
Before I joined the forum, we used to exchange notes and whatnot, well her being emotionally unstable, I spent most of time tending to her.
After many days and months of helping her with her problems, I prevented many breakdowns and an attempt of suicide. In a note she wrote to me she thanked me for everything I've ever done. In this note she had said "In a way you're my Savior...". That's what stuck to me, since I'm usually someone who's always there for someone when they need me. Or I offer help to whomever I can out sheer selfless actions.

So no it's not some type of religious gimmick, or some ego-boasting cause. It's surely a name that represents whom I am. A nice guy.

(It also applies for when I make crucial armor saves and LD tests. )
