Looking over my own posts, I just realised I still kept the name MechaEmperor7000 since I was 10. It's been roughly 9 years since I came up with this (it was originally one of my fan-characters). Breaking it down, it seems really childish, yet I cant bring myself to change it, even when I go to another forum. Something of a combination of Narm Charm and Nostalgia.

The name originated from a Yugioh card that I loved as a child, Machine King. I simply swapped around the names for a more eastern take on it (Emperor is more used in asian than the western world, And Mecha is the japanese term for machines in case anyone didnt know). I have no idea where the 7000 came from now, although it seems to hold some meaning back then.

On that note, what are the meanings of your names? Both literally and to you?

Well my name was created for the Eye of Terror campaign. Based on my chaplain Crantor Tiberius. It was just a jumble of letters and sylable taken from my desk to make Crantor. turns out there was a greek philospher named Crantor but I didn`t know that. I really wanted Corbulo. But not for the reasons you might think. Corbulo is a kick ass roman general, but his 40k nomenclature is too associated with the blood angels.

I had quite a few names when I was younger - when a forum I was on implemented the ability for users to change their names once a month, I did it pretty much every month. I will be sticking with this current one though. Got it from a song name, but I like it.

I didn't want to go with a name that I would be sick of in a few months, so I went with my middle name and the year I was born. Its not very cool sounding but I don't hate it either.

I chose Tim because I had just watched Wild Hogs, starring Tim Allen, and Biovore because that was the page my Codex was sitting on at the time of my signing up.

In truth, I only made the account to be able to see more of Dakka, I had no intention of sticking around, but look awt me now!

Do I regret making my randomly selected name? No. Not in the bloody least.

Mine spawned from a funny moment with a buddy of mine when I was 16. We were working together and he came into work (during tax time) with a rather large MR T style of silver/gold necklaces around his throat. Now him being a black man, and even better lived in the slums and better yet he wore "gator skin" shoes I couldnt help but laugh at him. He asked why I was laughing at his "platinum" and I said oh you mean your ghetto platinum? So everyone started laughing, and when he stopped laughing told me "well your pretty funny for a cracka" and then I about puked from laughing. So after some small jokes later, I was deemed the King of Crackers. It just stuck.

Mine is derived from my oldest forum handle "TheSilverSurfer".

I went through "SilverSurfer", and "Silver", SilverMKI (as "Silver" was taken on that forum) and now use SilverMK2 (due to a blunder on creating my Live account) for most things (though my dA account is SilverMKI).

The 'origins" of the moniker FITZZ is somewhat goofy.
Many, many moons ago, when I was jumping around from band to band,I found myself involved with a group that had gotten the idea to use "stage names" into their heads.
One day at practice, the singer and the guitar played were really grilling me as to what "stage name" I had chosen,I replied "None (my real name) fits",well...apparently they missed the "none" part and only heard the "fits" part.
Soon the whole band, except the drummer who was passed out in a corner, was shouting about what a great name FITS was..." You have a bad temper."," It works for you." "Blah, blah, blah" "But you have to spell it with a Z".

Anyway,I didn't care one way or the other,I just wanted to focus on music...but...the name stuck.

Now almost 20 years later, that band has gone the way of the dinosaurs, but I still use the name FITZZ for all my "user name" needs.

I honestly have thought your name was a mix between Dreadnought and Death Note. Guess I was wrong

My name comes from the novel I'm in the process of writing - Locclo is the king of the angels in my story. Dunno if that means I'm pretentious or not, but hey!

The origin of that name is actually kind of silly when I think about it. The name of the novel is Chronicles of Light - C O L. I made it into a palindrome (so COLLOC) and scrambled the letters around a bit to make Locclo.

Your name always reminds me of the character from 12 oz Mouse. It kinda works, in a very strange way.

Mine's been with me for a while, and is self explanatory. I self-identify with the Greek engineer.

Same thing with me, I suppose.

Samus Aran is a video game character from 'metroid'. 115 is a random number yahoo mail threw on the end of it because Samus_aran@yahoo.com was already taken. I remember clicking through the random unclaimed numbers thing until I found it. I love the number. It's great

I've had it since I was about seven years old (9 years). I flip flop around with other ones too, but samus is consistent.

Wow so I'm not the only one to keep a consistent name due to a fond but seemingly insignificant memory.

We had a similar thread on Sprites INC. At the end of it all one name still puzzled us, the name of our friend Zyros. We all thought it was Zero (it was a megaman forum) + Gyro (greek food), but she denied it and has since been a running gag.

Chrysaor is the son of Medusa in Greek mythology, birthed from the stump of her neck after her head was removed. '686' is a meaningless number tag that I've always used to differentiate my name in case it's already been taken.

First and foremost, Chrysaor is my absolute favorite name, phonetically. It's just really fun to say ("Kri-zay-or"), and it breaks so many common perceptions that a lot of people either mispronounce or misspell it. I have an obsession with unique words, and Chrysaor is one of the most unique words out there. It just so happens to be a name.

The name also holds deep personal meaning to me, as it reveals my disdain for my mother/parents and the violent nature of my father, to anyone content to sit there and pick it apart. I thrive on double meanings and wordplay, and I'll create them at any expense. No, I'm not asking for sympathy by choosing such a name, I simply find it very amusing.
