My name is an english adaptaion of a nickname I had a few years ago: Joe la Hyène.
I got this one for many reasons:
-1st my sisters used to call me Joe since I was 3 or 4, and it stayed,
-2nd where I lived calling someone Joe le/la something* (*:something being related to some physical or social trait) is a rather ironic way to nickname someone.
-3rd I have a frightful smile and had a highly cynical behavior by this time - thus, the hyena.

All these made HyenaJoe.

Mine is the second internet name I made about 10ish years ago. First time a friend set up an email for me called The Shadow Dante. Roughly a month later I hated it and changed to this.

Though recently on games I've been using Iustis. Dakka was actually the last thing I signed up for as n0t_u.

Back in the 90's a show in Oz bought a greyhound and would race it live each week and it was called 'nads' so that people at the track would yell 'Go Nads'

My ork warlord started as 'Nads', and wevery time a great roll would come up my gaming group would yell 'Gonads', so eventually that is what the name transformed to.

When I joined up in 2000 I needed wanted my ork warlord name, and added the Waaagh to bring a passing relevance to 40k.

It has been my standard name online for 11 years now.

Chrysaor686 wrote:Chrysaor is the son of Medusa in Greek mythology, birthed from the stump of her neck after her head was removed. '686' is a meaningless number tag that I've always used to differentiate my name in case it's already been taken.

First and foremost, Chrysaor is my absolute favorite name, phonetically. It's just really fun to say ("Kri-zay-or"), and it breaks so many common perceptions that a lot of people either mispronounce or misspell it. I have an obsession with unique words, and Chrysaor is one of the most unique words out there. It just so happens to be a name.

The name also holds deep personal meaning to me, as it reveals my disdain for my mother/parents and the violent nature of my father, to anyone content to sit there and pick it apart. I thrive on double meanings and wordplay, and I'll create them at any expense. No, I'm not asking for sympathy by choosing such a name, I simply find it very amusing.

The pronounciation of your name reminds me of the Demoman's new weapon the Claidheamh Mòr. I like it!

Alot of people's backstories now make mine feel even more childish

The amount of replies here (including several by mods) that don't tell him to go to the sticky show the amount of attention the stickies get as opposed to regular threads. Really though, does it matter?

My name is one I first used for Runescape many years ago. Can't remember exactly what I drew it from, but part was taken from the W40k Eldar Avatar, and the 720... God knows where that came from, but it's in my Hotmail account from around the same time, when previously I was known as 'Randomer' or 'A Random Guy' (that last one brings back memories... well, it brings back a sense of nostalgia and that strange 'old' smell things acquire with age anyway) and al mi sntnses wer shortnd nd dnt hv ne gramer 4 tlkin lyk dis ws kwl @ da time.

Glad I quickly grew out of that, but i've retained my ability to read 1337 (or just bad writing) and indeed translate someone's correct spelling into 1337 or its various forms to allow someone else to communicate.

Mandorallen turned back toward the insolently sneering baron. 'My Lord,' The great knight said distantly, 'I find thy face apelike and thy form misshapen. Thy beard, moreover, is an offence against decency, resembling more closely the scabrous fur which doth decorate the hinder portion of a mongrel dog than a proper adornment for a human face. Is it possibly that thy mother, seized by some wild lechery, did dally at some time past with a randy goat?' - Mimbrate Knight Protector Mandorallen.

When I was littlier I used to play Khorne Warriors of Chaos exclusively. This was because my strategy was to run as fast as I could to the enemy lines and hit things, which Khorne is the best at.

Anyway, my brother converted me a model with a giant axe on top of a mountain of Skulls, and named him Slarg the Slaughterer. The name stuck with me.

Many, many moons ago, when I was jumping around from band to band,I found myself involved with a group that had gotten the idea to use "stage names" into their heads.
One day at practice, the singer and the guitar played were really grilling me as to what "stage name" I had chosen,I replied "None (my real name) fits",well...apparently they missed the "none" part and only heard the "fits" part.
Soon the whole band, except the drummer who was passed out in a corner, was shouting about what a great name FITS was..." You have a bad temper."," It works for you." "Blah, blah, blah" "But you have to spell it with a Z".

Anyway,I didn't care one way or the other,I just wanted to focus on music...but...the name stuck.

Now almost 20 years later, that band has gone the way of the dinosaurs, but I still use the name FITZZ for all my "user name" needs.

How interesting, I would have never guessed, lol.

I had been wondering what your name could have possibly originated from.

Edit: Oh, almost forgot.

I made this name up. Was the name of my Dwarf character on Neverwinter Nights.
