What is the deal with dividing by zero? While the posters are somewhat amusing, I feel like I`m missing something

By definition dividing is the act of reducing something into multiple pieces, to go back to being 5 the example often giving was cutting a cake (divide 6 is cutting it into 6 pieces etc).

Now cut something into no pieces at all.

That is what dividing zero is, a mathematical impossibility.

Alright, but why is it impossible? If I have a cake, and no-one get a piece, the cake remains as it is.

It isn't giving nobody a piece, it is cutting the cake into no pieces whatsoever (a whole cake is one piece).

How about we just leave this forum to rot and go do something meaningful with our lives like write a book or learn something new.

So dividing by zero is dividing while... not dividing? I can see why it`s impossible. My head`s hurting just from thinking about it
