Bit pricey. Maybe if it was a complete kit, so not for me. However it looks nice looking forward to future releases. Perhaps something based on a rhino kit?

Looks tasty.

Shame about the price. Perhaps consider a reduction. The response here has been great, bar to the price. I don't even play guard, but I'd be tempted to buy one just to paint it up all nice and purty.

Probably tabbed viewing, multiple windows, reading one thread and posting in the other, etc.

Hmmm. You know, if you sold off your Chimera bitz that this kit replaces, it wouldn't be nearly as hard on the pocketbook.

And anything that takes care of the stupid lasgun ports is a good thing.

Infinity: Way, way better than 40K and more affordable to boot!

Really nice conversion kit, especially for IG players that want the russian/chinese look - including lasguns with curved mags.

--

And please: everybody stop whining about price (on this and almost every other thread). It is just silly.

Face it, this is not (and has never been) a cheap hobby - especially if your'e into making a themed army with resin parts.

Of course you can make your own Chimeras out of WW2 kits, plasticard, cardboard boxes or clay. They will probably be cheap(er) - and look equally cheap.
That has nothing whatsoever to do with resin kits and thus should, IMHO, not be voiced in those threads.

Barrel looks kinda funny

I think it has to do with the red paint on it though. Whole design roundish though, fine for a different chimera variant (now if only people allowed my armies of autocannon chimeras!)

Why should we hold his hand and falsely play nice? If he can't take criticism, he has no business trying to do proper business and the sooner he realizes this, the better. Coddling him would serve no purpose.

Oh, please. Don't treat this guy like some kind of a resin wizard. Replicating his level of sculpting with the materials you mention would be both less expensive and look better.

The difference?

The companies that produce the product that Verlinden is 'supplementing' didn't actually create (or in many cases, license) the design for the item they're producing.

There was an interesting article in a Fine Scale Modeler last year about the "Rise of licensing" in the automobile/armor modeling field after Chrysler/Dodge supposedly put the kibosh on a model kit, being produced without license, of a Jeep Wrangler.

Hmmm an excellent and possibly winning point. The part that really sucks is if GW wins that the hobbyists lose most of all.

At risk of taking things a little off topic, there is a really interesting comparison between markets with zero copyright/licensing to be made between the model market and fashion industry. There was a really fascinating discussion of such on EconTalk a few months back, and apparently in fashion anyone can copy your stuff, and the designers/labels deal with it by constantly innovating and doing top notch work. So LV might have its handbags knocked off, but consumers generally know the difference (due to materials and things like stitching) and those who cared in the first place don't buy knock offs while those who don't care wouldn't have paid 400$ for a purse anyway.

I sometimes wonder if the IP question between modeling companies is not in fact more of a molehill, considering how many make generic "Wizard" or "Knight" type models (Reaper etc.) and do very well based just on sculpt quality, not the fact the manufacturer is relevant.

I wouldn't think you'd need a hatch. It looks automated. Is anyone actually IN the turret? Also, can we see it with guns on both sides?

Could be a maintinance hatch.

I like your detail and the removable forward radar cover. It reminds me of a Gepard 35mm SP AA Gun turret. I like your answer on how to angle the guns, with the peg&hole, those barrels will never start pointing down... not sure about that top hatch unless its more flush... and maybe tilt the forward dish up a little... and the Chimera kit looks great, very BWP looking... but i already have 7 assembled chimeras... whats the pricing gonna be like for that AckAck gun?

jep'ray: I decided to add the hatch. The Chimera kit is just for show, I dont want take too much trouble. The final price still not confirmed, which price will you accepted?

I really like that turret. For the hatch I agree that it should either be more flush, or have vision blocks. If you do put vision blocks in then may I suggest that you add semi circle cylinders to each side of the turret, with a smaller diameter than the turret ring. That would give the turret a bit more character, and less box-like.

I look forward to seeing a complete version.

Love the AA turret. My only concern is the radar cover, which for my taste adds too much forward visual bulk to the turret. But for those who feel that way, it can simply be left off, of course

And I like the hatch idea, although maybe a rectangular hatch would better suit the location?

I can finally see pictures. That AA mount isn't half bad.

Sure I could knock up a Hydra turret out of bits and plasticard, but it wouldn't be as neat.

If every release was met with mindless fawning, how much would our opinion really be worth? Not all releases are created equal. By posting this in this section, he opened himself up to both compliments and criticism. Making the (wholly accurate) observation that the kit is overpriced is hardly "being dicks", IMO.

So far as the newest one: I like it, presuming the guns will be long on both sides (right?). I especially like the bracket that holds the guns together, though I think I might like it even better if it were a 3 barrelled variant. The skirts are very nice, as well. What's the proposed pricing?

Perhaps we can start a new thread in Dakka Discussions about the IP considerations of third party products rather then pollute every. single. one of these announcements with them. Not pointing at your specifically, Jazz, just saying, it's gotta get tiresome for these guys. The IP issue is frankly not our problem unless they ask our opinion on it. GWS is a very large company and they have a very aggressive legal department and they don't really need (and certainly don't deserve) us white knighting for them on the internets.
