I applied a metallic coat and some rust patches. I just sealed it with some satin varnish and when that's dry, the salt is going on. If that manages to dry out this afternoon, I'll undercoat both the Stormraven and the Termy today, huah!

What is the point of having those little rocks on him for? Is this some battle-damage painting technique?

Looks like the salt and hairspray technique ...I am looking forward to seeing the results.

Cheers guys! indeed, it's the hairpsray/salt technique. ^^ Works great on large models as you really get a height difference from the paint thickness.

Here's some shading and subtle highlighting done. I'm not too sure i'll give it another highlighting at this point as once the salt is gone, the red will need some touch-ups in any case.
I also gave it a dark red wash.

Of course, as before with the FW Marine, the effect is by no means perfect, some touch-ups with red are needed here and there and of course more weathering will follow. But it's a solid base to work with.

That huge termie has to one of the coolest things I've ever seen!!! Looking very much forward to the finished result

As usual, looking amazing, i really enjoy how you show us step by step pics and seem as excited as the rest of us to se it finished! :-) the salt technique is nicely done but it's when you do your details work that my eyes light up!

Another brilliant masterpeice by Meph. This is gonna looking killer when its done.

I love the sculpt, ill have to message cassar with some ideas. I have never understood rust on a space marine though. I don't think a space marine would let his armor get any rust on it, its sacred. But other than my personal opinion on space marine rust its looking great. Subbed
