Will have to check that out next time I watch Band of Brother.
The same Tiger I saw years ago at Aberdeen is the exact same one you saw at Bovington. It is the only one that still exists that still runs. Bovington aquired it on loan from Aberdeen and has done a wonderful restoration on it.
The Bovington Tiger has always been ours because it was captured by British forces. Aberdeen has their own, according to wikipedia it's at the Wheatcroft Collection for restoration, not that I'm familiar with who they are. The Bovington one was away being restored for over a decade though but it's been back in Bovington since 2003.
Bovington also has both variants of King Tiger, a Jagdtiger and a Panther. It's well worth a visit if you're in the UK. I've always wanted to see an Elephant, but there is't one in the UK; they are in Aberdeen and Kubinka.

Most of the Band of Brothers panzers and STUG's were based on the same APC chassis (FV???, not M113) as the Rhino mod that THQ had done, with a lengthened chassis and a new superstructure. It can be found on the making of disc if not mistaken.

Good Greif! I stand corrected.

Das Boot is a decent movie, if you want to experience the life of a U-Boat sailor (that is, looong stretches of boredom, broken by moments of screaming, claustrophobic terror).

Actually Das Boot is reasonably similar to the book, the book btw is a cracking read if your into your subs peeps!
my wwII collection currently stands at
The longest day
A bridge to far
Bridge over the river kwai
the desert fox
the desert rats
operation pacific
operation petticoat (excellent film Run silent Run Deep
The enemy below
They were Expendable
The cruel sea
Battle of the river plate
and the modern ones too, BOB, Pacific, SPR, das boot, tuskigee etc. i've loads more tbh, i actually prefer the 50's war films, its funny to see M3 halftracks used as SDKFZ 250's but most of em were either destroyed or taken for use by the soviets so they had to make do.
and yeah i love old navy movies, espesh anything with subs

just saw Tarentino's Inglorious Bastards and it was quite good. Not at all what I expected, more about tension and fear than violent shootouts or Nazi torture.
And the ending...
Spoiler:
Wow that was gutsy. Just as I'm wondering how Hitler et al will escape... THEY DIE!
And Christoph Waltz certainly earned his Oscar. Great performance from start to finish.
It's not an epic like the others (not even one tank!) and it's probably not even a classic but it is fun.
Needed more Bear Jew though.

I'm watching 'Pride of the Nation' now. It's the movie within the movie, a (fictional) Nazi propeganda film about a smiper killing 100s of AMericans in Italy. Now THAT'S EPIC.
100s of extras, a whole city being shot up. A lot of effort for what was just a few minutes in the main film.

Well after a brief pause I'm back to my WWII marathon. Saving Private Ryan tonight. Amazing film.
My only gripe is Tom Hanks, not only is he too much of a movie star (I can't even remember the character name, he's Tom Hanks) but also he's just not really pulling off the character he's supposed to be. The other GIs go on about him 'he didn't go to school, they built him out of the body parts of dead GIs' but he's just not carrying off the whole Sgt Rock invincible leader deal they mean for him to be.
But still, great film.

Some great movies being mentioned here, quite a few of which I have my own DVD collection as any serious gamer should have.
Here's a little known film that I love though. From 1998, just before Saving Private Ryan took the cinema world by storm so kinda got overlooked - although don't recall it getting a cinema release in the UK - think it was a straight to DVD or tv movie type release??
Anywho, the film's called When Trumpets Fade, starring Ron Eldard as an anti-hero who trys what he can to get discharged from the army. It's set in the Hurtgen Forest campaign and quite a bleak period for the US army.
