I agree, blocking is a pretty useless tactic, I mean slowing down my opponents army for 1-2 turns isnt really worth it when I have an army that excels at range, I'd much rather get into CC with my suits on t3, so I can pummel my opponent with my overwhelming WS2.

Anyway suits are T4, but yeah all the better to get into CC with T4 than T3 right?
I should reconsider my tactic and find ways for my opponents to reach my line faster so that my suits can get into the fight

And people actually took your word for it.

I took his word as slowing a army down for 1-2 turns which is what I have been saying over the last several pages. I never said it wasn't worth it. I said it has a finite lifespan and I didn't say it was useless. Some people really need to read Nubkillerz..

The Hammerhead already has a Targeting Array on it by default. The Commander isn't even legal. You can only have 3 items that take up Hard Points on a XV8. All three weapons, the shield generator, and the targeting array makes for 5. Pathfinders fall under the Fast Attack slot; they are not Troops.

You're more than likely right though until that point I hadn't looked at the Tau codex so I didn't know what goes where plus I don't know the full wargear on some models. Plus my opponent has been playing since Dec if I remember right so might have put extra wargear on by mistake.

Overall though the list is horribly unoptimized. Some of it has already been said, but I'll do a summary.

Crisis Suits need to play a specific role. Missile Pods and Fusion Blasters simply do not work well together, especially when firing at BS3. For the standard elite XV8, I suggest picking a weapon such as the Missile Pod or Plasma Rifle, Twin-Link it, and add in a Targeting Array. TL BS4 is going to hit the vast majority of the time, and it is more efficient than trying to get everything to do two different jobs less efficiently.

Stealth Suits are horrible unless you like the idea of using them as a Markerlight hub. They are soft, are very expensive, the stealth effect rarely saves them, the Tau already have plenty of S5 shooting, and they take away a slot for MOAR BATTLESUITS!

Same concept applies with Gundrones. They don't accomplish much for their price, and provide something the Tau already have a lot of, which is S5 shooting.

A Tau army that doesn't have at least 2 Heavy Support slots dedicated to Hammerheads and/or Broadsides isn't going to be very competitive at all.

Just some advice. The Tau though aren't what you'd call a competitive army to begin with. I'd say they are the least competitive army in 40k outside of Necrons.
