You control dice and mitigate their ability to influence the outcome of your game so that your SKILL in creating an effective list, maneuver, target priority, etc can put you in a position to win.

Be prepared to play against many common army types you see online. There is no unbeatable army or autowin but there is such a thing as autolose. Sometimes you have to lose a few battles to win the war.

as a side note, I recommend reading Dash of Pepper's tournament survival guide as well. It may not have specific tactics but keeping a sound mind during the game and your eye on the objectives helps a ton.
