Nah man, I never see it in greasy spoons, maybe decent eateries.

If you go to the caff up the road for an English Breakfast while your hungover on a Saturday morning.. i reckon you only see cornbeef hash on offer maybe.. 1 in 10?

We are arming Syrian rebels who support ISIS, who is fighting Iran, who is fighting Iraq who we also support against ISIS, while fighting Kurds who we support while they are fighting Syrian rebels.

Corned beef in general is fantastic stuff

My grandmother used to make a pie filled with mash potato and corned beef, was bloody delicious served with mushy pea's and/or gravy.

Yeah, my comment above was based on 'plain' Mashed potato, which I view as bland as bland can be.

Once you start adding it to something or use it to create something else, pies (a fave being tuna, sweetcorn and potato pie) bubble and squeek etc, then it usually becomes very nice.

Properly prepared "plain" mashed potatoes should still have cream, butter, salt and pepper in it though. Seasoning makes a world of difference.

I am sorry for your loss. However, it does mean that there are more potatoes for me!

Mashed potatoes are a cruel joke played on millions of children by their grandmothers, perpetuating the misconception that they are either edible, or good.

Heathen!

Mashed potatoes are best potatoes.

I've detested dumplings because I threw up a load of them when I was younger (I remember it vividly, which is strange because it's one of few memories I have of my early childhood, so it must've had a pretty big impact), I also have a dislike for any flavour crisp that isn't Ready Salted, Salt and Vinegar, Cheese and Onion, Roast Chicken, Smoky Bacon or Beef and Onion; any of those new fancy flavours like Chilli Con Carne or whatever make me feel sick after I threw up a particularly bad packet of Football World Cup crisps.

Although pizza takes the top spot here (namely the frozen crap like Chicago Town), because the feeling of throwing up bits of cheese, pepperoni and pizza base through your nose isn't easy to forget...

Mandorallen turned back toward the insolently sneering baron. 'My Lord,' The great knight said distantly, 'I find thy face apelike and thy form misshapen. Thy beard, moreover, is an offence against decency, resembling more closely the scabrous fur which doth decorate the hinder portion of a mongrel dog than a proper adornment for a human face. Is it possibly that thy mother, seized by some wild lechery, did dally at some time past with a randy goat?' - Mimbrate Knight Protector Mandorallen.

Dude. Thats like more than 2++ billion of the worlds population. You can't term them barbarians just because they eat rice or pasta, its heresy. For all you know they may be calling you a barbarian. ''What are those round things? looks like a large lump of mould. BARBARIANZ!'' The inquisition would have you strung up and mashed.

Wait... American CBH is different to British CBH (also known as Panaculty). You don't see that in ANY restaurants, only poor people's houses!

Hence my familiarity with it.

Interesting... The only corned beef hash I've had as been dry but the only panaculty recipes I can find seem to be more stew like in that they contain large amounts of stock/gravy.

What's your recipe alby?

Recipe?!

The balding overweight north-eastern stoner craves not these things.

It's the stew-like one. The terms 'Corned Beef Hash' and 'Panaculty' are pretty much interchangeable up in the North-East, or at least they are in my experience. But then, up until the age of around 15 I thought everyone made spaghetti bolognese by frying mince and adding Heinz spaghetti to it...

That turned out not to be the case.

Hmm, Corn Beef doesn't make very many appearances in my home, which is unfortunate as I really enjoy it...
I do on occasion make corned beef and cabbage,
and the Missus make some concoction with Corned beef, sweet corn, aclobo, sason, sosfrito, recaito and various other minced and chopped items served over rice that's pretty tasty.

Right then
My paternal family are from Sheffield and make the non stew styled one however the idea of adding gravy/stock sounds interesting.

Never made it in stew form - must be a Northern thing

My recipe involves cubing the corned beef, quick marinade in Worcester sauce with a smidge of wholegrain mustard. Dice some spuds, boil for 5 mins then fry the corned beef, cubed spuds and some chopped onions in a very hot pan. Season to taste. With an egg on top.
