I was just wondering, but what was the Necron player running when you played him? Do you remember his entire list?

Ignore the Monoliths. Focus on Phasing him out. And assault! They can't do squat in assaults.

Mephiston (Is he fearless? Does it matter?) can be pinned with the deceiver and pariah trick if I am not mistaken.

There would not be much outside of heavy destroyers that can deal with the infantry sized Hivelord.

This requires Mephiston both inside the 12" bubble and not in HtH, with Pariahs on the board and nearby with the Deciever in tow. Since Mephiston moves 12" and the other units move 6", I greatly doubt that this will happen often.

Pariahs plus terrifying visage or deceivers similar rule would certainly slow down mephiston

Lol @ people who think 40 necron liabilities is a cheesy tourney tier list.

A good necron players power comes from unit synergy, not from individual units profiles and abilities, like spess muhreens

Pariahs against Mephiston is very hard to make work. He's much faster than they are, so the likely result is that Mephiston will activate his powers 19" away, charge the Pariahs (or Flayed Ones) and kill them, and that will be that. You have to arrange it so that the Deciever/Flayed Ones can charge him while the Pariahs move up to get him in range of the aura. This generally means that he charged a different unit that the Pariahs and Flayed Ones were hiding behind so as not to die.

And you are devoting more than his cost in marginal-to-useless units to try to deal with him in a predictable and telegraphed manner. You still have to handle the rest of the army. There was an entire thread on this subject not that long ago.

He really was a monster against the Necrons. Almost made me feel bad.
