They do have the tearing quality in dark heresy as well. But Space Marines have the advantage of having unnatural strength, which doubles the strength bonus they get for the purposes of damage in melee and etc.

Just saying, if you gave fire warriors katanas and a samurai like attitutde and they face a guard army, you would have the exact scene from the end scene of "The Last Samurai" wit the shas'o being tom cruise.
