Also, System of a Down. Their newer political preachy BS turned me off to them forever.

SOAD were pretty much always a political band

Were they? Never owned any of their disks. Seems more overt in their later stuff.

Yeah they were political as far back as I have heard them, though I will agree that the more preachy songs (Boom and BYOB spring to mind) are a tad grating.

Me too. Death Cult Armageddon is and always will be one of my favorite records of all time, and In Sorte Diaboli was pretty good, but I think that the scuffle with Vortex and Mustis took it out of them. I mean, all white outfits? That's a straight Spinal Tap move there....

I still listen to a lot of stuff I've bought.

Maybe the closest thing that comes to something I don't listen to much any more is my only Danny Diablo album. He was cool when he contributed to a song on Tranplant's self titled album, but his stuff on his own doesn't interest me too much anymore.

Get out. Just GTFO. I love Venom...

I'm not, like, embarrassed about anything that I used to listen to but I was pretty into NIN for a long time and now I just don't really dig it anymore.

Also, the Beatles are the greatest band of all time.

I can see where you are coming from but they also were one of the groups that pushed music away from being all hair metal bands. I can appreciate the sea change they were part of instigating in mainstream music while also recognizing that we have moved on from those early days.

Totally. I just find it difficult to take Cobain seriously these days. When I was 13 I thought he was Jesus, though.

The Unplugged in New York album is still a great album though.

I will respectfully disagree. Now, Alice in Chains Unplugged.... THAT is awesome. Why don't they do Unplugged sessions anymore?

Here here, Alice In Chains is awesome and their music still sounds fresh. Certain Nirvana songs sound awful now, while some of their lesser hits are really good (All Apologies comes to mind).

Automatically Appended Next Post:
DragonForce: Formulaic, bland and cheesy. Really cool for one song, beyond that? Blech.

U2: Overplayed and completely listless now.

Bob Dylan: Not overly talented beyond songwriting and most of the hits were recorded by other people.

John Lennon(See above): He suffered of trying to copy Dylan's style of rhyming random words to a rhythm while he was in the Beatles. When he finally was getting his act together, he got murdered. :(

Slayer: Very predictable, I love Slayer, but they're stuck in a musical rut and have been for 20 years.

Rhapsody Of Fire: Really neat conceptually, too bad their songs all run together after a while.

Bruce Springsteen: Not a good singer and not a great musician. Just a guy who happens to have a few good songs and has lived off of that reputation for far too long.

RHCP: See Bob Dylan, except with more musicianship. Anthony Kiedis is a terrible songwriter. He's a clone of Dylan. The rest of the guys in the Peppers are really great musicians, Kiedis is a giant weight around their necks. I still have hope for their new album.

Velvet Underground: One of the most overrated bands of eternity. Lou Reed is neither impressive or cool.

I know I'm thread necroing my own thread but I thought it would better than trying to recreate it. Anyways I'll add Elvis Costello to the list of bands I don't like anymore while I love his song "Pump It Up" I can't

stand his other work his nasally voice irritates me to no end (although I don't mind the nasally "Brat-Boy" voices of Punk Rock for some reason).

Linkin Park, first album immense, everything afterwards? Crap.
I fell out of love with NIN for a while, around the time they released 12 different versions of 'The Perfect Drug', but after being forces too listen to 'With Teeth'.... Great band.
GreenDay, anything after 'Dookie' is bubblegum punk and not worth my time.
Limp Bizkit, loved the first album. Their cover of 'Faith' is bloody brilliant, but anything else after that is poor beyond belief.
And Korn. Yes there is a pattern here, first album bloody great, anything afterwards is self indulgent gak.....

Very much yes.

Also Slipknot big time, used to just LURVE those guys, but they quickly changed my mind. I also used to like Korn, but same thing, they changed their style, and I just didnt care for it.

U2 for me.
I used to love ALL of their albums and play them constantly, and then I bought their newest album in early '09 the day it came out and realized it's a polished gak. Since then my perceptions of them have been changed.

Uhg, dont get me started on Mudvayne. I went to go see them live, and they were opening for Disturbed, a band which Im not a an of at all. Well Mudvayne does their set, and are just horrible live. The singing is everywhere, the guitar/bass dont seem to line up right, it was just ass. so I stayed because I paid for the tickets, and wouldnt you know it, Disturbed put on a really good show. Still dont like them, but just kindda figures

With the exception of Skrewdriver,a band that formed in the late 70's as a punk outfit but later "devolved" into a Neo-Nazi Skinhead band.
I liked their first album (which was straight forward punk),but absolutely hated everything they later did (both musicly and otherwise).

That sums me up as well.

Well apart from the Skrewdriver band, but yeah.. in general can't think of any I no longer like after liking them. Only ones that come to mind are solo stars.

I can concur with people on Dragonforce. They took me by storm, when i first heard them. (I believe it was some WOW-classic frag video, with a little 60-Rogue doing 2-4k pts of dmg per stab), and it had Body Breakdown running in the end.
- I went and ordered all their CD's, heard them a couple of weeks, and... If they ever pop up on my playlist today, i just skip to the next track.

Hmmmm...

Kaiser Chiefs and Franz Ferdinand. Bought albums for both these guys. I was bigger on the Chiefs until their third album which was pants... never really listened to them since. Franz Ferdinand was almost a one-off in a sense. I'll add Nickleback because their stuff just depresses me now... and I'd rather not be depressed.

In regards to Iron Maiden and Disturbed, I'm confused. In both cases I have their latest albums (ok I'm "late" in regards to both bands, moreso for Disturbed) and they're awesome. Must of missed the earlier stuff or its not my fancy.

How strange. Im not even kidding, it was one of the worst live shows Ive seen, and Ive seen Adema live once (YEESSH! That was bad) And Im one of those guys that if a band cant cut it live, they quickly fall down the list of listenable material. Ive hated bands for bad shows, and liked bands for good shows. One of THE BEST live shows Ive ever seen with my own eyes was a few years ago I saw NIN lives. It was simply fantastic
