Anvil, a Canadian speed metal band, use to like them but now they just sound like 80's cheesiness to me and Pantera there sound is over the place, plus thrash metal is better than groove metal.

The Prodigy. Were my favourite band like thirteen years ago, and whilst my tastes haven't changed much since then, everything they've done after Fat of the Land just sounds like a cheap copy of Basement Jaxx.

...Hmm,Actually I can't think of any band that I ever liked that I won't at least listen to now.
With the exception of Skrewdriver,a band that formed in the late 70's as a punk outfit but later "devolved" into a Neo-Nazi Skinhead band.
I liked their first album (which was straight forward punk),but absolutely hated everything they later did (both musicly and otherwise).

Venom, while I can appreciate them for the influence they had on black, death and thrash metal they can hardly play there instruments and sound ridiculous, oh well I guess thrash metal had to start somewhere.

The Beatles?...hmm interesting.
Just out of curiosity, was it the "newer" material that soured you on Green Day and Metalica....or did you just grow to dislike them as a whole?

It's their newer material combined with their change from a decent band to cranking out mainstream crap.

I used to think that the Beatles were a good band, but then I realized that their early music was "bubblegum-pop" and when they got called on it, switched to juvenile political philosophy and drug promotion.

None of these things in themselves make a bad band, and I think that the Beatles really had some good music. But they "sold out" in response to criticism.

Note that I'm not old enough to remember this switch, it was simply a realization and now I dislike the band.

The Beatles weren't really that great before they "sold out", if you know what they were like before that.

For me It's Iron Maiden - sort of.

I still like a lot of there older stuff, but the new stuff just sucks - I honestly can't listen to any album after 'No prayer for the dying' (other than 'best of' ones).

I guess, a lot like GW, I'm not their target audience any more - damn shame though.

Probably some of the punk stuff I used to listen to in my teens. The emotion and vitriol was an important part of the scene and of growing up, but lets be honest, punk is pretty bad in terms of musicianship and musical standards. Listening to it now, its pretty poor stuff.

I used to like Nirvana, now I think they're juvenile crap, especially Cobain's 'lyrics'. Dave Grohl is still an awesome drummer, though.

How to put this politely...?

Your statement is grossly ill-informed.

Yeah, that should do it.

@ Cheesecat - Anvil was always goofy and cheesy. Mad Dog? (An aside, their Bassist Ian Dickson...I think that's his name, is a total model making nerd and cool guy. I've met him a couple of times years ago)
Venom always sucked. Will always suck. 3000 years in the future archeologists will discover a Venom album and PhD students around the world, maybe even Solar System, will do doctorates on their over suckitude.

I don't think the Beatles sucked. John Lennon was a bit of a D-bag, but I'd much rather listen to the Beatles in Mrs.Khornholio's car than all the other schisse in digital format the keeps in the glove box. If I ever meet John Mayer, I will head butt him and then kick him when he is down. I purposely scratched two of his CDs and wifey keeps buying them.

For me, I'd have to say Guns n' Roses. I remember when Appetite came out ans thought "wow, awesome." Then they just turned the suck up to 11 and beyond. 'November Rain' is still to this day, 20ish years later a song that makes me want to destroy any apparatus which is playing it. G n' R is nothing but a cover band that made it big. They suck. Get in the Ring? Axl'd get his deaf ginger ass handed to him in about 3 seconds.

Nickleback (Their first album was good)

Stabbing Westward (I like it better when he was talking about breakups etc. That third album killed them off for me)

Korn (They are kind of hit or miss. I liked the album that was before the last one...)

Most Heavy Metal (that stuff just gives me a headache now)

Powerman 5K (I totally gave up on them back around 2000 I think...)

Most notably is Slipknot and Mudvayne

I used to be a HUGE Slipknot fan when they first came out, I actually saw them on the first Ozzfest they appeared on and was hooked. Then their 2nd cd came out, then their 3rd and then whatever else. Just couldnt handle the crap they pushed out after the first.

Mudvayne I REALLY liked, and some of their tunes I still do, but I think its the singers voice that kindda wears on me. Sorta like how the lead singer from Disturbed is, EVERYTHING he writes sounds the same

Yeah that kind of sound is good for a few albums, but it seems like they are just covering their old stuff. If you heard one album you heard them all.

The only thing that came out later on that spiked my interest in Mudvayne however, was their cover of King of Pain. That was pretty awesome.

I was into 'crossroads' and a couple other songs, but then I realized Clapton is completely over hyped and bloated in every way possible. I despise clapton. Mick Ronson is way better.

I could see not liking Clapton's solo work, but certainly not Cream.

I actually dislike some of Clapton's work post-Cream, but Unplugged is an amazing album.

Don't get me wrong, I don't hate cream, nessesarily, but just Clapton himself Their bassist is a beast, and they definitely had a good sound, but he was just..... eh.

I don't like glorified guitarists in general. Dudes like Steve Vai

Probably work

Clapton irritates me too.

As far as I go, there's really two categories of this kind of music.

- Bands I outgrew
- Bands who have "betrayed my trust"

The first category would incorporate techno and some 'hard' bands like KMFDM, My Life With the Thrill Kill Kult, and Dead Kennedys. I stopped being 17 and found real reasons to be angry about things around me. I didn't need to listen to angry music. I do still sometimes play "Rubikon" for old times sake though. I look back on them fondly though because they make me remember being young.

The second category is reserved for bands the likes of Suicide Machines, Nickelback, and Green Day. Bands that actually sell an album or two and then format change to whatever they think will sell them more albums. Those guys can eat a gun.
