Glad to see the third trailer (which is to be the opening for the game) holds up in quality and awesomness when compared to the previous two CG trailers (Hope and Despair).
In a world where all you need is nano-bots or a McCoy ike needle-less syringe to perform first aid it would be odd if most people didn't have some form of healing capacity.

I only want to play a Bounty Hunter so the baddies it is for me, hoping they put some more races in, as diverse as the universe is, you only ever get to play a random handful of races, and most of them the D&D style archetype's.
Verpines, Barabels, Arcona, Gamorreans, hell even Jawa's I mean look at jabba's palace, crammed full of a mish of races and you only ever see human, zab's and twi'leks as player races!!!!!

I believe you mean Bioware, not Lucas Arts.
I don't believe their is an official set list of races yet so I'm not sure getting upset at the lack of choices is called for. Be prepared to be angry, but don't be angry just yet.

No, its an MMORPG. If it was available for a console, the whole game would most likely be terrible anyways because of downgrading the game to fit the consoles.

The bane of future gaming, really. Fitting things to console. I'm told Dragon Age II is a shining example of this, but I sort of refused to play it cause it looked so terrible.

Without getting too offtopic: Dragon Age II is perfectly fine, and absurdly fun. The issue is that it was a big departure from DA:O.
It's essentially like what happened with Halo 3 to Halo: ODST. The focus shifted and it garnered a lot of hate.
Back on topic:
I wonder how many of the US folks would be interested in starting a guild when this is finally coming out?
And how many are absolutely sold on playing Dark Side?

Yeah, the vast majority of the DAII hate is caused by the massive switch from DAO to DAII. Nobody wants to adapt, so they say it sucks, when in fact is actually much superior.

Meh. I thought it was a mediocre hack-and-slash dressed up as an old-school RPG. It was fun, but I thought it missed the mark in terms of quality, basically that's how I felt about DA:O as well: disappointed, but not angry about it.
Making major changes to a franchise can, in fact, make a game (well, pieces of media) bad. If the new Transformers played out like Gone With the Wind I doubt many would call it good.

As of this moment I am, but we'll see how work is going when this comes out.
Life does not cease to be funny when people die any more than it ceases to be serious when people laugh.

It was less the change of style, and more the poor implementation of the game. The biggest complaint I heard was in the mapping. "Hey, I've seen this cave before..." type of thing. They weren't able to have as many unique and individual locations because of space limitations on a DVD that don't cause problems for PCs which have considerably larger storage capacity.
Edit: And I loved ODST.

Which is definitely another point I saw brought up a lot in regards to DA:O/II.
Many people expected a Baldur's Gate styled game, rather than what we got.

...Scarlet Prime?

The funny thing is you didn't really hear those complaints on Neverwinter Nights, when the majority of caves and the like had the same thing.
Hell, you didn't hear it about Oblivion where most of the locales were nearly identical as well.

Are you really going to blame the re-use of caves and maps on the console instead of the developer being lazy?
They could have used a 2nd disc. Yea, I know its Bioware, and I love Mass Effect, but they were seriously under the gun from EA for DA2 to get it on the market.
Also, I think if this WAS coming to console, I might be more interested, as now it just seems far too samey to other MMO's on the market. The E3 impressions I've gotten from podcasts about 'raids', 'tanks', 'offtanks', and 'healers' just destroys my interest. Are we forever going to be stuck in the Everquest/WoW mindset for MMOs? No thanks. All the voice acting in the world isn't going to get me in the mood for that kind of content again.
Kanluwen wrote:There are not really any "dedicated healers", nor tanks or offtanks.
The problem is simply that people are trying to equate what is new to what they know.
I was just quoting from a podcast I was listening to of some guys(giant bomb) that played a demo of the game, the dev who was setting them up was referring to them in this manner.

That doesn't actually change my point.
The dedicated MMO players aren't going to ooh and ahh over the Commando advanced class being able to 'heal' their party with Kolto Bombs or the Vanguard advanced class being able to 'ranged tank'.
I guess, I'm sure the 'raids' are still going to be raids with 'healers', 'tanks', and 'damage dealers' doing the same things they've been doing in raids since EQ.
Just because the classes aren't dedicated to it doesn't mean the paradigm inside of the raid is going to change, its still going to be raid gameplay; which is what I was lamenting. Personally, I am pretty tired of 'raiding' in MMOs, and I would prefer they come up with something else.
When every class has some form of healing, there's no need for 'healers'.
When every class has some form of tanking, there's no need for 'tanks'.
When every class has some form of damage dealing, there's no need for 'damage dealers'.
Admittedly, you will probably see the 'hardcore' players swapping to those very specific roles or tooling themselves out for it--but by and large, I don't think that will be the case.
