I agree 100%, though I know he won't listen. Past experience says that he has absolutly no clue what common courtesy is.
I think this was uncalled for. Odin has politely asked corpsearefun to return to the topic at hand. Your derisive input was not needed, nor was it wanted.

And to kick it back to alternate histories has anyone read the book The Lost Tesla? It's based on the premise that Nicholas Tesla was abducted by aliens and when he returned to earth he used the technology he saw/stole to launch the earth into a new era and our technology advanced far beyond what it currently is.

I keep meaning to write an alternate fiction work a while the plot would be basically
All the southern and central American peoples had left earth hundred of years before the Spanish conquistador and those left with the criminals and the people who were considered religious fanatics. In the near future humanity reaches the outer rim of our galaxy and is immediately contacted by a mayan envoy. The basic crux is that the peoples of the universe are in a massive conflict , mainly going back to the old races (mayan, aztecs and inca) basically humanity is forced to pick a side and the human population is split , thus war ensues , yada yada.
what do people think to that. bear in mind the story is mere conjecture

I've heard good things about Destroyermen, and I've been meaning to give those books a try. I skimmed the first chapter of the first book, and it seemed like the author knew what the feth he was doing.
There is an interesting short story out there by Turtledove called "The Road Not Taken" that's actually very interesting. Basically, the story's premise is that faster than light and space travel are actually RIDICULOUSLLY simple, so that most species discover how to do so when they're in their age of sail, and never look back. The story talks about what happens when one of those races meets up with a 2050s Earth. It's short, but a nice read with a nicely open ended ending.
I will vouch for Turtledove's Timeline-191 though. I'll be honest and say I like his writing style...it seems to work for showing just how massive a conflict being fought, and allows for all kinds of little stories to emerge on the sidelines.
Of course, I also enjoy the more academic of works.... THere was a lovely BIG compilation book called What If? floating around, that had works from quite a few historians in it. I also have another one called Third Reich Victorious, which while interesting just wasn't as realistic. Then again...the real world is very unrealistic at times, so who cares?

Regardless of their history I didn't see any attack in Warboss' post he just stated something from his past experience. I actually know Warboss personally we're both stationed at Ft. Leonard Wood and I'm sure if he had really attacked Corpsesarefun then Kill Krazy would have commented on it.
In any case it's done and over with and the thread moves on

That would be interesting to see, how about this for an alternate history. Alexander died at birth, I wonder how that would have affected the world

Does anyone remember that movie - I think it was called 'The Final Countdown' - where a modern day aircraft carrier finds itself being sent back in time to just before the Japanese attacked Pearl Harbour?
They're faced with a dilemma - do they let history run its course, or do they use their superior modern weaponry to stop the Japanese fleet?
Pretty poor film, from what I remember, but interesting premise.

Mandorallen turned back toward the insolently sneering baron. 'My Lord,' The great knight said distantly, 'I find thy face apelike and thy form misshapen. Thy beard, moreover, is an offence against decency, resembling more closely the scabrous fur which doth decorate the hinder portion of a mongrel dog than a proper adornment for a human face. Is it possibly that thy mother, seized by some wild lechery, did dally at some time past with a randy goat?' - Mimbrate Knight Protector Mandorallen.

Before we jump to any conclusions, we should probably investigate what 'conrflakes' are, and who might have 'pised' in them. Truly they must be time-altering objects if they are now on topic.

The poor man really has a stake in the country. The rich man hasn't; he can go away to New Guinea in a yacht. The poor have sometimes objected to being governed badly; the rich have always objected to being governed at all
We love our superheroes because they refuse to give up on us. We can analyze them out of existence, kill them, ban them, mock them, and still they return, patiently reminding us of who we are and what we wish we could be.

I've always liked to speculate about this. Whether it would lead to a technologically advanced version of the world today, with a unified European state, or whether the world would be conquered over time and we'd end up with a technologically-stagnated global state.
I'm also a big fan of humans evolving earlier and being contemporary to dinosaurs. 'Cos dinosaurs are awesome.

Anyone who wants to read some good alternate histories should read the Collected What If? edited by Robert Cowley. It's a collecetion of essays by eminent historians on what could have been if certian events hadn't occurred. It's quite good.
