Hmm the system troopers dont look too "grim dark"

unless styles like the original command and conquer count as grimdark

Sorry for getting off topic

I have all of the current MERCS range....the only problem is that they are no good for building squads, and they expensive if you want to use them outside of the context of the MERCS game, £7 each.

I only have one faction the CCC's but yeah a bit expensive if you want loads of them. Thats why Im making small scifi projects in 15mm

Mantic are on their way.

If they dont do something like this I will be very surprised.

They have a lot of cool ideas for their fantasy stuff already and it isnt sticking with the trend.

GW aren't the only folks to use "heroic" scale, they just use the term. If you look at 90% of other miniatures, they've got similarly exaggerated proportions.

However some companies are using the "Heroic" scale titling to mean that the miniature is a larger scale than true 28mm.....I don't think they mean it the same as GW with their stupidly proportion comic humans

Really like these sculpts. The hoses seem rather superfluous, though. I would see if there isn't a way to rework the guns a bit to make the hoses an optional tridlin for energy type weaponry.

The interchangeable fronts is a brilliant idea.

Definitely keep the weapon systems modular. That is a huge leap forward if you ask me. I hate having to buy an overpriced metal (or fineco$t, as the case may be) mini in a blister just for a damn special weapon that should have come as interchangeable bits in a bit.

I think Infinity has some pretty good sci-fi military models out there. Stuff like their SAS with the boarding shotgun is amazing. I'd like to see some stuff like theirs, but not so anime. Also, a lot of the Infinity weapons are gak-tastic looking. Very crappy next to the amazing looking model that is carrying them.

I would like to see something like the ODST as well, but take care to stay away from the earlier Mjolnir stuff that looked like motocross gear.

Also, just got my female-chained-to-a-pillar mini from Ramshackle. It's gonna make a sick objective marker for my dark eldar.

Wow! I am really impressed with these. With the tubes to weaopns and knee pads, they look like great proxy stormtroopers, but they're not so grim-dark as to be limited to GW proxies.

I've got a Ramshackle Half Ute and it's nice, but it's made to look very battered. It's nice to see some more work from Ramshackle that doesn't look quite so beat up. It's good evidence that they aren't hiding sub-par sculpting behind a "distressed" asthetic.

I really hope these bits...

...end up being available as separate "tridlins" I have a feeling they'd sell quite well.

Kanluwen wrote:Pig Iron's stuff is really just grimdark styled mix with a smatter of 'real', frankly.

Completely disagree. The Pig Iron sculpting asthetic (very blocky), weapons choice (more hard sci-fi rifles) and general design is quite their own. They only thing they really have in common with GW is heroic scale and chunky weapons and that's not something GW alone does. Their Rebels and Ferals are pretty grungy/agressive looking, but they have none of the ornamentation, skulls or other design elements that make up 40k "Grimdark".

^THIS. I hardly even play 28mm sci-fi anymore and I'd probably *STILL* fork over $$$ for 28mm ODST figures if they were both plastic and affordable.

Because it's emblematic of aesthetic that isn't commonly done or if it is done it isn't done well?

Human figures are almost always done in three ways:
Post-apocalyptic, grimdark, or supercleanhightech.

There's no "realistic" future models. What makes the ODST so nice is that they look techy, while also looking generic and realistic. They'd be perfect for any kind of scifi styled RPGs out there.

I'm from the future. The future of space

ODST style miniatures would be amazing.

Balance in pick up games? Two people, each with their own goals for the game, design half a board game on their own without knowing the layout of the board and hope it all works out. Good luck with that. The faster you can find like minded individuals who want the same things from the game as you, the better.

I would these to have bigger packs, like platoon sized or more.

They do look good but I fear that to avoid IP issues what makes the look so characteristic would be gone.
