It is plastic? This whole time I thought it was a plastic/resin hybrid.

It is plastic, just expect to have to treat it like resin. It's hard and, compared to GW plastic, brittle.

I've bought about half a dozen plastic jack kits and really haven't been very impressed. The detail is pretty low, despite that there always seem to be mold lines running across any areas of detail.
As I mentioned it's hard and doesn't clean up anywhere as easily as softer plastics, but there are just as many if not more mold lines. This obviously isn't the thread for a detail commentary but I'd rate it well below the original plastic Dreadnought kit for a number of reasons.

You're having trouble getting Overlords?! Huh... Guess they're more popular than I thought.

I personally greatly prefer the PP metal figs, which is quite a turnaround for me as I generally hate metal minis.

I've had no problems with the plastic kits, the detail appears fine to me, and they clean / assemble / paint up nicely.

Back on topic, I think this is good news that PP are so open and prepared to communicate with their customers, and not keep such things 'secret' or blatantly refuse to acknowledge problems (although a resculpt of the Black 13th would be nice).

Everyone says that, but they are 3 of my favorite PP models. Same with the old Gun Mages that were just re-sculpted. If anything needs a re-sculpt it's Ashlynn. I'd pre-order it the moment it was announced if she ever gets one.

Some of the first bastion boxes weren't wonderful.

Generally speaking though, if you are willing to take the time to remove mould lines they go together and paint up great. For my cryx people can't tell which slayer is metal and which is plastic without picking them up (or if they've painted the model themselves, they'll notice the differences). The other faction jacks had larger stylistic changes.

If plastics helps privateer improve their ability to supply their products, then I'm all for them. The mould lines are removed easily enough and once primed and painted, only the actual stylistic differences in the models will give it away that they're plastic.

However, I have been waiting on the last few things I need to get my army to 50 points.

Balance in pick up games? Two people, each with their own goals for the game, design half a board game on their own without knowing the layout of the board and hope it all works out. Good luck with that. The faster you can find like minded individuals who want the same things from the game as you, the better.

They're ridiculously small. The closest scale discrepancy that I can think of was the original Drune Karnagh's for Confrontation and even they weren't as blatantly under scaled on the tabletop. Why they allowed models that look like they're from a different range to be cast is beyond me.

But will it be full of air bubbles, missing parts, and voids? That's what I expect in my fine resin hybrids.

PP's scaling and proportion issues are some of my biggest gripes with them.

Out of all the plastics, I would say Menoth are the nicest due to the ornate nature of the models. The ornamentation is really large and stands out well. On a more spartan model like Khador or Ret, which is mostly smooth blank surfaces, the plastics seem a lot plainer and the little flaws are more obvious.

I have to agree. All the Cryx I own are the battle box, and I must say the quality of the plastic is really high.
Also, it is great that PP is willing to make an announcement like this. I love being treated like I am important enough to the company to be told about things other than when a new model/book is coming out.

Yeah, GW makes it obvious what they think of their customers. Your job is to shut your mouth and buy product, they don't care about anything else.

That's right, now get back to work!

To continue derailing into plastic queries, the main thing I don't like about this plastic Cryx battle box I bought is where someone did me the favor of clipping the bits off the sprues. Poorly. I've had to fill in a couple gaps that look like someone used a dull pair of clippers that dug into the model a bit rather than a knife with proper cutting angles. Nothing irreparable, but $50 for five plastic minis that don't have the greatest amount of detail and I have to repair them is a bit rough. Oh well, it is what it is and I'm still happy enough at the end of the day.

Yeah, I don't like getting pre-clipped bits, either. Not that I always cut them perfectly myself, but it's the possibility of getting stuff like that which I don't like.

While we're talking about why we love PP, I just found out that they use Drupal to power their website, gotta love open source

Also, I'm okay with them pushing things back if it means that they're going to be doing things better

Yeah, I've never been bothered by the scale, because I like the look of the models that much. I do understand people's frustrations with them, though, but since I paint more than I play, I don't share them.

Eh, PP had issues filling orders in the first place.

I started legion mid last year and i had to wait over a month for some of the models.

I almost lost intrest waiting.

Now i wish i hadn't even spent money on the army.
