Yeah, he traded the gun for his jetbike
He had no need for the jetbike as his opponents were Harlequins in Land Raiders

It was indeed recollections of Trooper Morris (and his more prosaically-named comrades, Guardsmen with Bolters 1 through 5) who inspired my plan.

Indeed there was another guardsman, same pose as Morris, but with the style of uniform of the plastic guard, who also used a bolter...plus a guy with a breastplate...ah the old days!

And though they look old-fashioned (not least thanks to their realistic proportions and feasibly-sized weapons), they are some very characterful, nicely-sculpted miniatures.

I think these FW terrain pieces are very nice. FW has for a while neglected its terrain offers, but I think this approach is really pushing them in the right direction. I hope FW keeps it up.
Rant mode... I think the lack of bolters in the IG is a disconnect in logic... its one think that it wouldn't be used as a primary weapon and that's fine. When you consider it in terms of what its capable of doing there is no reason it wouldn't be used more widely even if still restricted. In the remote representation of the IG as an analog for the modern military, if the military could get access to it they would want it, but it would fit in logistically as a special weapon, due to its costs. The fact that storm bolters and heavy bolters, both more advance than conventional bolters, are in wider distribution than the standard bolter its a gap in logic. As sophisticated and special as bolters are suppose to be they are no more so than the plasma guns and meltaguns IG run around with... the ammo isn't even as remarkable as a grenade. Rant mode off.

Remember there are so many guardsmen that using bolters for more than officers would be a logistical nightmare.
Remember a lasguns pack can be recharged by solar, heat,
All a guardman needs is a Lasgun, few good power packs and a bayonett and he is good to go

I'm not advocating "a bolter for every guardsmen" and I acknowledge the logistical issues but like I said...

Fixed that for you. Otherwise, I agree: regardless of in-universe practicality, the lasgun is emblematic of the Imperial Guard. I'm only doing it because I want some bolter-packing stormtroopers for my inquisitorial retinue.
