Kroothawk, Forge World noted on their Facebook page that the Strongpoints sold at their open day(which Old Guard bought) was part of their "prototype batch" that they released early on.

Keep checking the newsletter and http://www.forgeworld.co.uk/Warhammer-40000/Warhammer_40,000_Terrain to see what is currently available. Rest assured we'll be releasing new terrain and restoring older pieces to sale over the coming months.
I feel like I've said that a few times now--in two different threads no less-- and yet people keep saying "I hope they rerelease old terrain".
They're looking into it. It's not going to be an instantaneous thing, but they're seeing what they can or cannot bring back.

Ahem...Great piece of terrain anyway, full of nice fun details. Great display board for Armies on parade!

I'm guessing they did it as an reference to Hoth. Escpecially considering the Forgeworld images are painted up as an ice world.

That and it's a "portable" generator. They're the kinds of generators commonly used to power temporary external defenses, we saw them introduced with "The Anphelion Project".

Did they also tell on Facebook that the Land Raider doors they sell for years are still from the prototype batch?
Because they are still too small most of the time. FW traditionally has a problem with shrunk resin models. And a shrunk ROB board would be very bad, at that size hard to avoid and awkward to replace..

But seriously, does anyone see the snow ROB board and think this?

Funny, I've never heard a complaint about them being "too small".
I've heard of them being warped, improperly cast, or too big--but never too small.

No joke. I bought some Land Raider doors for my Dark Angels. I get em, they were all bent, smallish, transparent in some places (thin casting). And then the top front door broke on me. Sad. Just sad!

Ah, so they are. But can you make out the header text on the facing page? I thought the first word was 'Stormtrooper'; now I'm not so sure.
To ask a more useful (if slightly off-topic) question, if I were to use them as the basis for some Stormtroopers, how easy would it be to excise the plastic Cadians' lasguns and replace them with bolters? (Apologies if this sounds like an imbecilic question, but I've never actually examined the Guard models that closely; would Marine boltguns look too large in human hands?)

Bolters look enormous in Guard hands. I'll grab you a picture later as I put them in the hands of several LatD unit leaders(using plastic Cadians) back when it was a legal list.

Ta very much - I feared that would be the case. I'm now wondering where I can find Guard-scaled boltguns - the old metal Deathwatch bolters are slightly undersized, as I recall. Anyone have any suggestions?

(that said, the "looking enormous" may actually fit the bill, bolt weapons are supposed to be huge - I'd be interested in seeing those pictures as well)

hmm.. I was considering that strong point, now I'm not so sure... if the shrinkage could be an issue? I think it is a little pricey though, but then this is FW we're talking about. Maybe I'll wait and see what other pieces the put out..
Mine arrived yesterday. I noticed a few thin spots in the cast and a few bubbles that will need green stuffed. It is black in color, which I was surprised by. I will check the size today and let everybody know how it fits with the other boards. I'll try to remember to put up a pic!

The Forgeworld bolters are another possibility. Depending on how Platuan4th's pictures look, I'll trundle into the local GW and try comparing a few things by eye before I buy anything. I wonder if Marine scouts' bolters might be smaller?

Bolters are iconic of Space Marines and everyone knows it. Not a good idea to give that weapon to a Guardsman.
