fluff wise, the origional commander farsight O'Shovah may have died and the new one just took over his title. Either that or he turned to chaos being a first for the Tau!

The strong implication, however, is that it is indeed the original Farsight, his life prolonged by his daemonic/Necron/weird alien tech sword.
For him just to turn out to be a descendant of the original Farsight would be terribly disappointing.

Shadowsun and Farsight were taught by the same guy(they have even been in the same room at the same time). Shadowsun taking over not long after farsight went rogue.
The Original farsight is still alive and according to some maths by the people at Advanced Tau Tactica, Farsight is around 46-48 years old. (Shadowsun being about 44 and Puretide[the teacher] being about 52)

Which is about the limit for a Tau.
40 years is their average life expectancy. Etherials may live slightly longer. Puretide is super old.

Not if they have Juvnats avaliable to them. Then you can live for 300-400 years easily, even longer if you have any kind of Augmetics.

There have previously been characters already canonically dead included in codices; you would of course have known that, had you actually read this thread before posting.

Given those novels' transgressions against studio material, I doubt GW would sanction them by adding this character to the setting promulgated in their army books, in spite of their apparent popularity.
What the hell was wrong with the Ciaphas Cain series? Those books are good.

Stated by Grey Templar:The Ward of the Codices
"It began, with the writing of the Great Codices,
2 were given to the Eldar. Immortal, Capricious, and most farsighted of all,
2 also to Chaos. Traitorous, Deceitful, Servants of the Dark Gods,
3 to the Xenos races. T'au, Orks, and Necrons. the Young, the Beast, and the Spiteful,
7 to the race of men. Servents of the God Emperor, the Inheritors of the Galaxy.
But they were all of them, decieved. for another Codex was written…
In the Land of Ward'or, in the Fires of Mount Doom, the Dark Lord Matthew wrote in secret, a Master Codex, to rule all the others. One by one, all the armies of the other Codices fell to the power of the Codex, and from this Darkness, none could see hope.
But there were some, who resisted. a Last Alliance of Men and Xenos took up arms against the forces of Ward'or and on the Slopes of Mount Doom they fought for the freedom of 40k." |

Tau Ethereal Aun'Shi?
I remember him from the first Tau codex, but I dont recall him being in the current 'dex anymore. He was kinda cool, yet contradictory. A Tau warrior who fought with a double-bladed honour blade. As he was near 'retiring age' for a Tau, he's probably dead from old age by now
