S'up. I live in Calgary (NE Whitehorn) and have been looking for people to play games with. I'm not very well versed in the playing of the games. In the 11 years I've been in the hobby I've only ever played 3 games of 500pts, so I'm not terribly comfortable with dropping by a place and looking to play a game with people who most likely play with much larger armies and are much more experienced. I can drive anywhere almost anytime.

Funny story, someone invited me down to Sentry Box one Sunday several months ago but when I went, he either wasn't there or wasn't making himself known to me. So I drove down there and back for nothing.

At Myth games, which is quite close to you, there will likely be people willing to accomodate. There's this kid that was born about the same time you got in, and there's people willing to help him learn the game. People are around on Tuesday evenings mostly. Most of us are willing to match whatever you might have. For the next month or so people will likely be focusing on league games, but there's a couple people not in the league, and some people might be willing to just play a game anyways, myself included. To back that up, I'm the guy with Invaders marines/Grey Knights, and if I'm not already committed to a game, I'll play whomever presents themselves as an opponent.

privateer press still has issues with satisfying demand. That said, if you want to get into khador, i have the khador starter with a 6 riflemen and 4 mechanics, a deck of cards, rulebook and a set of hard-sleeves.

As for the second hand, I bought about 2?? kilo of miniatures. 6 of them were NIB csm 2-3 editions old, about 10 winged nightlords, 13 odd nurglings, kharn.... about 20 old plastic CSM--well painted i might add, a well-converted nurgle dreadnought, a greater daemon of nurgle.... the list goes on, cost me $50.



As for not knowing how to play, its not a big deal, I'm still trying to pick it up as well: by the time I come round to playing again, hott damn, i've forgotten the half of it. That said, 500 points is very tiny, 750-1000 sounds better... unless of course you don't have the models to make up the difference in points, in which case, I think the most of us also have spare armies/models to bring it up to the desired pointage.

I play Orks. I may have enough for a 750, but I'm not 100% sure. I started this hobby to paint only and just recently decided to try gaming. I've collected whatever I liked the look of and any armies I've managed to make was by accident. I would also like to play my Nids, Lizardmen, Skaven and HE, but I don't have enough troops yet.

I'd love to give my Orks some more action, I'm just rather uncomfortable walking up to a stranger and asking them to be patient with me 'cause I've seen some pretty hardcore gamers that I'm sure would scoff at me.

the x-core gamers can..... go wherever it is they go to do nefarious things. It's about fun. I got a pile of bugs. Not many orcs though.... say.... is it just me or are you shirleen?

Ah. Nope. Not me.

Calgary has a pretty good community and when I learned about a year and a half ago nobody "scoffed" at me, instead I found everybody to be very helpful. If you ever wanted to play with the "hardcores" just make it known about your level of comfortability... my buddy mike just started playing Orks recently so hes learning the codex , so sometimes its good to pair up or play around people who are familiar with your army.

I agree with wayne, with the exception of anyone that frequents the chinook GW.... i have a seething hate for GW.....

I used to love Sunridge, close, good crew to play with for the most part, and for a while chinook hobby was right next door too

I just found out about Trilogy games in Ogden, I will probably check them out next weekend.

I'd rather honestly play at somebodies house or sentry box though. I've been going to sentry box for the last 12 years (since grade 10) for D&D products and I choose to support them a great deal.

BTW anybody know what happened to great white in south centre mall?

They fell off the face of the map. I went there and found a clothing shop in the words.

I figured something was up, I mean they were having "Buy one, get the 2nd box 50% off" sale or straight up "25% off everything" sales near the end there. It's too bad, I wanted to load up on terrain while they had those amazing sales lol

They pretty much just stopped paying rent. I think the owner just got tired of running the place.

I talked with some of the staff on ocasion.... felt like the entire staff had the same attitude. For some reason, I remember the things in that shop being at a slight mark-up.

I didn't know Great White disappeared. Though I didn't go there very often at all...maybe a 2-3 times...ever. I must say Sentry Box is quickly becoming my fav hobby place. They have a bit of everything. Warhammer, Warmachine, etc.

My girlfriend has a CPR course on the saturday so I need to drive her to / from it... so not sure if i can do this saturday :(

If you guys do head down to Sentry box, can you confirm for me if they do have Vallejo paints?

i can already confirm for you they have them. Right beside the GW paints.

I'm trying to get a big game of Twilight Imperium going for Friday night if anyone is interested. About 8 pm 'till the wee hours, down at a friends' house in Ogden. We've got a few confirmed, and can play up to 8 people.
