Immediately upon hearing of his death, I whipped up a CSI Miami exploitable meme comic.

There's something horribly, horribly wrong with me, but I'll at least have the decency to wait a bit before posting it here.

Even though they're terribly overpriced in many cases, I actually like Apple products. I have a first generation video iPod, have had it for years, love it lots.

So long, Mr. Jobs. Love him or hate him, he was easily one of the most important people in the history of home electronics.

my condolences to his family, wonder whos in charge now?

Also @Saviour, dude your completely heartless. The only reason you said that is because you desperately need attention.

Well since he was no longer the CEO of Apple he likely gave over control a while ago (Wiki says the current CEO is Tim Cook). Definitely not a thing to be left to the last minute in any case.

I think the world of tech will sorely miss him in the end. Whatever the difference between the two systems, Steve Jobs did revamp the industry big time. His visions set the trend for others. The iPod, iPhone, iPod have all caused rivals to up their game. Who will lead the way now? How many designers will be given the freedom in the same way as Apple designers were? Most CEO's aren't visionaries in the same Jobs was. He was in a position of being to be able to do what he wanted.

As much as I love the look & feel of Apple products and OS, I still have to say that I feel they are overpriced. I still can't believe people will pay that amount of money for a tablet that's not even a computer, and has a fraction of the processing power of a laptop that costs the same.

Live your life that the fear of death can never enter your heart. Trouble no one about his religion. Respect others in their views and demand that they respect yours. Love your life, perfect your life. Beautify all things in your life. Seek to make your life long and of service to your people. When your time comes to die, be not like those whose hearts are filled with fear of death, so that when their time comes they weep and pray for a little more time to live their lives over again in a different way. Sing your death song, and die like a hero going home.

And to all the Apple/Mac fans I'm sure they can feel the hurt as well.

But not being an Apple/Mac user myself, I can't say I feel the same.

Sad story nonetheless.

Why on earth is it sad? Indeed he will be missed by his family, but sad? no. He is free from pain and suffering now. Cancer is not a good way to go. I know.

What does his race have to do with anything?

The trolling in this thread has reached legendary proportions.

Though, knowing Jobs' sense of humor, he'd probably find all of this hilarious.

"DANCE MY PUPPETS, DANCE!"

There are some who walk until their legs fail them and they fall to the ground. I find that respectable.
Then there are those who drag themselves further. I find that admirable.

I find the fuss being made laughable. Why are heads of state releasing statments? A businessman died, happens every day.

He seemed a pleasant enough fella, so what?

Im sick of all the cretins that make up my friends on facebook spamming fake sympathy for the guy, what did he do? Make products we use. Many many others do the same.

Are you going to put a sad status update on when the head of Npower dies? What about when the CEO's of British telecom, Yorkshire water, British gas or Tesco die as well?

I mean gak, we use all of their products too..... lets have an outpouring of fake grief for some more suits we never actually knew!

It's not necessarily "fake grief."

He was a recognizable figure to a lot of people, and it's not really out of line to be bummed that someone that you are aware of dies.

The "hurrr Steve Jobs" posts are just as pointless and goofy as what you're trying to make the "Goodbye Steve Jobs" posts out to be. The sword cuts both ways, as it were.

I can see where mattyrm is coming from though it's often hard to be sympathetic to people you've never met or known. Like a kid from my class died and I was more shocked and felt awkward, but wasn't really

sad about the situation.

Yeah he mighta been a businessman or whatever, but he was in the public eye enough and created a loyal fanbase of mac nerds all over the world. So of course some of them are gonna be sad even when they never met him. It's like if Jack Nicholson was your favorite actor and he died, you'd prolly be at least little bummed...

Actually, I think you'd find that there are a lot of people who don't find it all that hard.

Amnesty International is a pretty good example of a sizable group of people that make a habit out of sympathy for people they don't know, and I don't imagine that they are the only one.

Yup. I imagine it's something akin to what I felt when Johnny Cash or Warren Zevon died.

I guess the bottom line is if you don't care, why go out of your way to bother people that do?

This happens every time we have a thread about a well known person passing away.

Due to empathy, my condolences to the friends and family who knew him. He is certainly an interesting (if not polarizing) figure that had an impact on pop culture and technology.

Amidst the mists and coldest frosts he thrusts his fists against the posts and still insists he sees the ghosts.

Sorry to hear that such an inspirational man and technological figurehead has passed.

Whilst it doesn't come as a surprise considering his recent ill health, i'm sure it's still a crushing blow to people everywhere.

Cancer does indeed suck, and I count myself lucky that those few family members and close friends of mine who have had cancer managed to make it out alive.

Mandorallen turned back toward the insolently sneering baron. 'My Lord,' The great knight said distantly, 'I find thy face apelike and thy form misshapen. Thy beard, moreover, is an offence against decency, resembling more closely the scabrous fur which doth decorate the hinder portion of a mongrel dog than a proper adornment for a human face. Is it possibly that thy mother, seized by some wild lechery, did dally at some time past with a randy goat?' - Mimbrate Knight Protector Mandorallen.

Oh I'm going to tick some people off but...

How can I feel sorry for a man who gave nothing to charity? And neither did his wife? 8 Billion Dollars he was worth. Nothing to charity when he was alive.

People will say "It's his money and he can do anything he liked with it". Sure he can and he did. But he ain't no saint. He is the prime example of Capitalism at it's best and at it's worst. And I show no remorse only disdain because of his actions in life. His legacy is his "toys". He did not give a damn about humanity, only his so called immortality with his innovations.

To me he was a man who was full blown Narcissist. Rich Man Syndrome I like to say. I've met too many of these guys in my life and it disgusts me to no end about their beliefs in there "entitlements". This belief is one of the reasons of the disconnect between Wall Street and Main Street here in the US.

There are plenty of people of wealth around the world who gives to the needy, who tries to make things right because they know that that "is" the right thing to do. They are fully aware that there is a point when the money that they have made is making more money that they can ever spend it all in a life time. These are the people you want to praise.

Not people like Steve Jobs.

In your base, ignoring your logic.

I don't personally like the guy, and I think he gets too much credit than he deserves. People see Apple and think Steve Jobs, I think Wozniak is better, much better. Wozniak even brought the first universal remote into the market, he's the guy who made the Apple I and II computers, Jobs just sold them.
