Wozniak even brought the first universal remote into the market, he's the guy who made the Apple I and II computers, Jobs just sold them.
I feel like this too.....
Jobs was an amazing marketer and salesman, but the credit for actually designing the technology goes to others.

Really? You're really going with that arguement? Wow.
The BBC is not a registered member of the DakkaDakka forums that I am aware. They have their own website called bbc.co. uk. Are you asking one of our moderators to go to bbc.co. uk and ban the BBC or something?
If you would like to create your own forum or blog, please do so. You can say what you want on it. While here, you can follow the rules or get your hand slapped when you break them.
Please stop whining.

Anywho I wonder what his epitaph will be, I can think of some rather innapropriate/irreverant ones that involves the "i" so common in Apple products, but they'll probably go with something like a list of positive adjectives or one of his quotes about success.

Mandorallen turned back toward the insolently sneering baron. 'My Lord,' The great knight said distantly, 'I find thy face apelike and thy form misshapen. Thy beard, moreover, is an offence against decency, resembling more closely the scabrous fur which doth decorate the hinder portion of a mongrel dog than a proper adornment for a human face. Is it possibly that thy mother, seized by some wild lechery, did dally at some time past with a randy goat?' - Mimbrate Knight Protector Mandorallen.

Didn't think I'd be as sad, we all knew (he knew) he wasn't long for this planet. I owe him a great deal of thanks, for giving the tools that have changed the world, in graphics, audio and video, communications. A lot of us here on Dakka are probably of the 'older' generation, guys and gals in their 30s who were the generation that saw the transition into computers, the first to see desktop machines in elementary school and then at home. We felt that experience, that rush of things changing in big ways - it's awesome to have lived during a time of technological revolution.
Cancer is awful, no two ways about it, he should have had the opportunity to do more and to see more of how his work effected culture. R.I.P. - but the guy will live forever - we are a 'Computer World' now, no going back - that's down to him.
I'll never forget my first experience with an Mac LCII, whopping 4mb RAM, an incredible drawing program where you could make black or white pixels: MacPaint II. Subsequently I first sampled and played back digital audio on the same computer, now whole albums and live shows are coordinated through Macbooks. I would not be in business if it weren't for desktop publishing and the computer's present role in the printing industry. Guy was a genius, not a great people person but a great business mind and a creative visionary who backed up his ideas with real progress and concrete items for the masses. Looking forward to reading the authorized bio that's coming out.

Bad news for you Ambull.
wiki wrote:After Apple co-founder Steve Jobs left Apple in 1985, product development was handed to Jean-Louis Gassée, formerly manager of Apple France. Gassée consistently pushed the Apple product line in two directions, towards more "openness" in terms of expandability and interoperability, and towards higher price. Gassée long argued that Apple should not market their computers towards the low end of the market, where profits were thin, but instead concentrate on the high end and higher profit margins. He illustrated the concept using a graph showing the price/performance ratio of computers with low-power, low-cost machines in the lower left and high-power high-cost machines in the upper right. The "high-right" goal became a mantra among the upper management, who said "fifty-five or die", referring to Gassée's goal of a 55 percent profit margin.[1]
This policy led to a series of ever more expensive computers. This was in spite of strenuous objections within the company, and when a group at Claris started a low-end Mac project called "Drama", Gassée actively killed it. By the 1990, with sales slumping, arguments broke out over whether or not the high-right goal should be maintained. In the end, Gassée was forced from the company and Michael Spindler was given his position, with the job of producing a low-cost series of machines. The result was the Macintosh Classic, Macintosh IIsi, and the LC.
The original LC was an attempt at an affordable, modular, color-capable Macintosh. As such, when compared with earlier Macs Apple cut some corners on performance and features in order to keep the price down. The LC's system specifications nearly duplicated those of the 3 year old Macintosh II. Nevertheless, the machine hit a sweet spot and, with the pent-up demand for a low-cost Macintosh, it was a strong seller. In 1991 was succeeded by the LC II, which replaced the LC's Motorola 68020 processor with a 68030. It retained the original LC's 16-bit system bus however, making its performance roughly the same as the earlier model. The main benefit of the 030 processor in the LC II was the ability to use System 7's virtual memory feature. In spite of this, the new model sold even better than the LC.
Jobs didn't make the Mac LCII, that was developed under a Michael Spindler.

Shame he's gone; but this shouldn't surprise anyone.
Whilst his persona was that of the "world's thinnest and lightest CEO".
He was part of a company that made a smart phone (because it's users are often muppets that need the assistance).
Not the pope.
If he cared about quality, then he would never have succeeded. His success is the success of marketing v quality.
