Hey guys, sorry if I'm spoiling anything but I just googled "AdeptiCon 2012 Infinity" and managed to pull up the event list for adepticon 2012!

As of the writing of this post it's not linked from the front page yet and you can't actually register for anything...but hey, the event's list is up!

Getting my broom incase there is shenanigans.

It looks like the championships are 1850 points and 2 hour rounds.

Only 2 hour rounds these days does not sound like enough time. The armies that have come out recently have all been dice and labor intensive and seem to take a while to play. They have lowered point costs of units that increases model counts, and have increased the phases that armies operate in. Gone are the times when armies use to sit back and shoot, or rush into assault. Now armies are moving, shooting and assaulting, and that takes more, and more time.

For example: Round #1 last year I played a very small demonhunters army that played very fast and I was paired up against a Dark Eldar army. I was blowing him off of the table, but because his army took so long to play (moving a lot of models, counting out a lot of dice to roll, then rolling them, then allocating wounds, etc) and I lost game #1 because they called 15 minutes to go/do not start another turn in the middle of turn #4 and he just raced to get all of the objectives and it was all over. The tournament that I waited all year for, paid $350 for a flight, $300 for a hotel room, and it was all over because of the short time limit.

To make events fair and to give every army a chance at winning, you need to increase the time of the rounds. I know it is 4 rounds on Friday, but people need to finish there games! Wargames Con found out what everyone already knew and that was that you can't fit a 2000 point game in 2 hours. Adepticon is only 150 points less, and you are going to have a lot of problems. Especially with their strict "Dice down" policy and the "Do not start another turn" calls.

Not a fan of only 2 hr rounds. Even among veteran players the 2 hr limit is really pushing it depending on the armies. As you mentioned there are enough armies out there that can cause this to be a problem. Than add the fact that you cannot even count on the guys playing those armies to be that experienced and willing to move and play quickly. So what? Now you have to be the annoying guy constantly pushing your opponent to move and play faster? This never ends well and both walk away from the game not feeling happy about who they played. I have played in plenty of tournaments that are 4 game and 2.5 hrs with not a problem. All I can guess is there is some kind of scheduling problem. Its a shame to spend the kind of money that you do at large events and feel under pressure to play fast. Though to be honest even with the standard list armies that cause this to be a problem I have never been a fan of 2 hr games for anything over 1500 pts.

While the event list is up, the rules and schedule for those events has yet to be posted or finalized. The webcart is viewable to allow people to start planning prior to the go live date. Additionally, we are still working to finalize a few events and seminars.

I'm leaning towards COMBAT PATROL and/or KILLZONE for my first Adeptiocn.

I'd love to find a 40K Team to join up with too - if someone is looking for 1000 points of True Scale Pre-Heresy Alpha Legion!

Registration begins in "October" - anyone know when?

As Hank said - the cart is still very much a work in progress and is being updated from last year's info. Cart is viewable to the public at: http://cart.adepticon.org and is subject to change between now and the opening of prereg, but it will help people start to get an idea of what they want to sign up for.

If you look closely - you will see Friday's 40K championships is already 1 hour longer. We are doing what we can to extend each game and realize even 15 minutes can mean completing an additional round towards the end of games.

Anyone know where to find the KILLZONE rules?

Looking at the cart, I'm a bit confused.

There's a price/limited availability for each event, plus there's a 'general admission' pass as well?

I can't seem to find the 'general admission'/weekend pass/etc. thing...

Yes. The cart is just a work in progress right now. Things will change. The Weekend Badge is being built still and will be there when we go live.

Forgive the Adepti-newbie questions...

I'm planning on attending Thursday through Sunday (leaving on the Monday!).

I'll need to purchase tickets to all the specific events I'd like to attend PLUS... a weekend pass?

Is that correct?

And that will cover me for the entire event?

Correct. First buy the badge. Then buy event tickets.

Yes sir, and if you do the team tourney every member has too have a weekend badge as well but only one team fee.

Listen, my children, as I pass onto you the truth behind Willy Wonka and his factory. For every wonka bar ever created in existance, Mr. Wonka sacraficed a single Oompa Loompa to the god of chocolate, Hearshys. Then, he drank the blood of the fallen orange men because he fed them a constant supply of sugary chocolate so they all became diabetic and had creamy, sweet-tasting blood that willy could put into each and every Wonka bar. That is the REAL story behind willy wonka's Slaughter House!
