Mutated Chosen Chaos Marine

Who says it has to be a loyal Marine anyway? Maybe it's a Chaos Marine, which would explain the baroque armour, and the Necrons are searching for a way to remove the influence of Chaos from his body in order to separate the C'tan's food from their most deadly poison.

Arguing with some people is like playing chess with a pigeon. You can play the best chess in the world, but at the end of the day the pigeon will still knock all the pieces off the board and then gak all over it.

Necrons don't serve the C'Tan anymore...which totally sucks.
At least it is still somewhat fluffy to have necron fanatics who treat the C'tan as gods, considering the new liberal direction of the army.

The C'tan are no longer the masters of the Necrons if certain people are to be believed...

WAIT!

I have it!

Ferrus Manus was infected with the Necron metal and did lose his head, BUT his brother Dorn lost his hands (among other things). I'll bet they made a frankenstein primarch from the parts and intend to lead a new unfleshed, power armor clad army to rid the universe of all life once and for all.

Or not...

Wondering Why the Emperor Left

From a marketing point of view it would make sense for GW to make Marine-esque necrons, something that strikes the same cord as marines? Maybe something that is a little more convertable?

Inside a pretty, pretty pain cave... won't you come inside?

The word "baroque" seems to be a significant clue, something about being highly decorated/ornamented. Sounds more like the design of Chaos power armour to me, but I profess little knowledge of the "fluff."

I don't see why they would. They have Marines, why go out of their way to turn an already quite popular faction and turn them into Marines? With the new range, it looks like they're going to be a lot more convertible.

It's Abbadon, he decided he wanted to see what was under Mars and waiting on the cylon ship inspired bus...

Or it's Garro. Cos GK's are so awesome, this one time, at warp camp, they went and ran through a necron tomb world with eggs and toilet paper...

I think people are getting confused here. Some obviously haven't read the new rumors.

The fluff (as paraphrased by yak), states that one of the Necron Lords (Trazyn the Infinite) is obsessed with history and the collection of trinkets and souvenirs from across the galaxy. On his tomb world, he has "a giant of a man clad in baroque power armor."

That says NOTHING about the Necrons being marine-like, or swapping pants with marine chapters. Furthermore, it doesn't even say that the "man" is alive. It certainly doesn't state that Necrons are going to start fielding marine-like units (as some of you seem to be suggesting).

With that out of the way... It seems likely that this "giant of a man" is some sort of trophy on the tomb world. I mean, I doubt that the Necrons would let a human/space marine/primarch in power armour run free on a tomb world.

In terms of "giants in baroque power armour," a primarch would certainly make a good trophy for a king of a tomb world. But who could it be? There are only a few primarchs unaccounted for: Ferrus Manus (slain on Isstvan V, body possibly never recovered), Leman Russ (disappeared into the Eye of Terror, possibly with the 13th Company), The Khan (disappeared into the webway, possibly captured by Asdrubael Vect), Vulkan (disappeared on Isstvan V), Corax (last seen traveling towards the Eye), and Alpharius/Omegon (may or may not have been killed by Guilliman, may or may not have been seen since ).

So of those primarchs, the only really viable options for capture/recovery by Necrons (unless their new fluff has them gallivanting around the Warp/Webway), are Ferrus Manus and Vulkan.

Now, that doesn't mean it must be a primarch, which I understand. However, it might be a neat way to advance some parts of the overall 40k story if it turns out that a primarch is entombed (or en-stasis-ed) on a Necron tomb world.

Which they don't seem to be doing.
Besides, Necrons are (or were, rather) already marine-esque.
They had T4 with 3+ saves, and their standard weapons were S4 AP5 rapid fire weapons. Just like bolters.

It coud simply be a dead marine from the GC kept in stasis since then... or from the HH.

Or as the C'tan and tyranids once were, a small bit of info they can go back to later and flesh something out with.

Interesting how GW makes themselves lots of things they can flesh out later but they do't and instead make a bunch of new things up...
